this was my reply on the 'who replaces oscar' thread a couple of days ago
if there is 'one' fighter that would captivate and 'carry' boxing, we havent seen him yet IMO...Oscam was a rare breed that was superbly marketed and was fortunate enough to box in an era where legends were present...
in the future, it would have to be a well spoken, charismatic KO artist that has cross-over appeal....not just to Americans but also worldwide
i dont see him yet...but he will come....
as for the time being; it isnt going to be floyd...if he comes back, it will only be for a couple of fights....it isnt going to be Manny...not in America at least...and he too only has a couple of fights left in him
it isnt gonna be Hatton...he also only has a short timeline...he might be done after May 2nd
the Golden Boy era, as a boxer, is done
BUT boxing will go on....there is enough talent that a collective effort in providing great fights will be the key...and that's what the sport will provide
