and winky was/is TOP 3 defensive fighters in the game, and look at what happened to him.....i have NEVER seen winky so lumped up in my life! he blocked MOST of the punches, but he himself admitted that they came from everywhere, and he wasn't able to block all of them.
i'm not saying williams "destroys" cotto......i think it'll be a great fight for the most part. i just think down the stretch williams advantages take over, and he stops cotto late. he hurts cotto, before cotto hurts him.
I guarantee you that if this fights happends adn Cotto gets to Williams ribs, Williams will be stoped!!!!!!!!

I think Williams would UD Cotto or stop him late.
But people are getting crazy. If they're leaning on eachother, you can bet your ass Cotto will do more work on the inside than Winky did.
Cotto would give him more angles than Winky did too. I honestly think Paul is a HORRIBLE style matchup for Winky. Winky comes forward and picks off punches, but he couldn't do that with Paul throwing 1,000 punches. He does nothing to cut workrate down cause he just comes forward.
There are variables that people just refuse to see, they just see Paul beat the **** outta Winky and think he'll literally kill Cotto.
It would be a competitive fight, but I think Williams would break Cotto down. Cotto would do some real good work though, it's easy to get inside on Williams, and Cotto is a better inside fighter than anyone Paul has faced.

I dunno man...In the first Quintana fight Paul at times looked like he was on the verge of being knocked down or stopped. With Cotto being stronger and quicker than Quintana if hes able to sneak in like that and let off some power shots to the head and body it wont go well at all for PW..And lets not forget PW gets cut easily and it remains to be seen if he has a chin like Margarito....Still some ways to go for PW in my opinion.

re-post.
Look at the punch output of Margarito against Cotto. He thrown 987 punches. 647 of those punches were power punches. 237 of those power punches were landed. Compared to Cotto's 395 power punches thrown and 179 landed.
Williams out punched Margarito in their fight, almost doubling the output. Margarito threw 654 punches that night. Williams almost doubled that with 1256 punches the entire night. Throwing an average of 105 punches a round.
Double Margarito's output on Cotto. That would be Williams output on Cotto (If we go by numbers). 1974 punches would be Williams output on Cotto. Williams also had a 205-165 edge in power connects against Margarito, nearly doubling Margarito in that catagory as well. Double Margarito's power output on Cotto..... 474! That is the 5th ring of hell.
Just by the numbers. The analysis of Williams -> Margarito -> Cotto. Is near perfect because Williams and Margarito are almost completely identical.
Cotto just cant handle that kind of assault. Its his weakness. He cant fight well against the relentless attack of swarmers with reach, power, an awkward style and a good chin. Then add Paul Williams' southpaw brawl.... cotto is in for hell.
