If Floyd wants to fight at 147, why not just fight a WW?

Lets look at the big picture here. At this point, it seems as if Floyd's intentions are to lure smaller men up to 147 without facing a legitimate WW himself. Call me a hater if u want, but this is clearly a ***** move on Floyd's behalf if true.
Think about it. If he's looking at Marquez as a possible tune-up for a future fight at WW, then he clearly isnt planning on facing any WW's. If that's the case, then move down to 140.
I agree and just think he is wanting to pick on smaller guys. Marquez may have
called him out but I'm sure he did not plan on fighting him at 147 when he did it though.Comment

if floyd doesn't fight at a catchweight, he won't get pac or jmm... he might as well just fight berto for a tune up then mosley.Comment

The talks between Floyd's camp and Golden Boy Promotions / Marquez's camp have apparently and recently bogged down, if not, downright appear over. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. insists on fighting at the 147 lbs. welterweight limit, while the 135 lbs. champ Marquez is currently holding his ground to hold the bout at the 140 lbs. junior welterweight limit.Last edited by joseph5620; 04-15-2009, 01:34 PM.Comment

Then he shouldn't have called him out. Marquez and his team know damn well Mayweather is not going to shrink down to 140 for their benefit. They have nothing coming there. Mayweather didn't go looking for Marquez so how is he "looking" to pick on a smaller guy? If Marquez wants to fight at 140 he has plenty of fighters there who will fight him including Timothy Bradley.Comment

Like I said, Marquez called out Mayweather, not the other way around. Marquez is not the draw and he's not calling the shots. So why would you expect Mayweather to drain himself dry by going back to 140 for a guy he doesn't need to fight and didn't look to fight? You can hate Mayweather all you want to but at some point common sense has to prevail to understand that Mayweather hasn't fought at 140 in years and can't make that weight and be effective. You putting the blame on Mayweather for this makes absolutely no sense. If Marqwuez truly wants this fight he needs to go to 147. If not he doesn't truly want the fight.
Once again, if Floyd plans on staying at 147, then why is he showing interest in taking a tune-up with a LW?Last edited by deevel79; 04-15-2009, 01:41 PM.Comment

Mayweather has never called out Marquez. You can't seem to get that through your hate for Mayweather. Marquez is the one who wanted the fight and it's ignorant for anybody to expect Mayweather to go back down to 140 to make it happen. You also have no evidence whatsoever that Mayweather even wants this fight. No announcements have been made from Mayweather, no papers signed, nothing. This hate thread has no substance or basis whatsoever.Comment

mayweather just want some easy money. and yes, he's a HOF but not because he face the best but because he chose easy fights.Comment
