Obviously you don't know much about this sport.

Star power brings money, money wins at the negotiating table.

Duran-Leonard 2. Leonard just lost to Duran. Guess who called the shots.

Hagler-Leonard. Leoanrd was inactive and Hagler the reigning MW champ.
    Guess who called the shots.

De La Hoya-Mayweather. Mayweather was p4p king, De La Hoya a titleholder 2-2 in his last 4 fights. Guess who called the shots.

Even as a huge Marquez fan, I still have to agree with a few posters on here that he did indeed call Mayweather out and not the other way around. Honestly, I'm not thrilled to see him move up even to 140 to chase Pacquiao because I feel the weight is just too much. Hopefully they can agree on a catch weight even though I do feel Floyd could make 140. Anyways, should a fight with Mayweather fall through, I'd be really upset with Marquez if he chose to fight Morales. That fight is a joke. I know he wants the big payday but come on. I don't know if I'm keen on him fighting Valero either. Yeah, I think Marquez got stronger as he moved up to lightweight but he can't take punches as well either. I love Juan Diaz and I'm not trying to knock him, but he's not considered a big puncher and he dazed Marquez a few times during that last fight. Either way you cut the cake, Marquez has dangerous opposition at the top levels of LW through WW.

Barrera and Morales can keep getting fights based on their name. But neither of them should muddle the picture at LW/JWW.

Top guys only fight every six months. It's too much of a waste of time for them to fight a Morales.

There is no way Mayweather will/should diet/kill himself to make a weight lower then, say 144. Marquez is just a tuneup fight anyway. They are delusional if they think Mayweather will go down to 140.

everybody thinks the same way just like before the pacquiao vs. dela hoya fight. pac is too small, pac will be murdered, blah,blah,bah..
if jmm got balls, he should fight mayweather @147. besides the big payday, he will have the chance to beat the true p4p king just like what he said after the diaz fight.and i think he doesn't look small against mayweather compared to pacquiao when he fought odlh.

first off the weight is such a problem with this fight that it could prevent PBF vs JMM all together.

Marquez is unproven above Lightweight. He hasn't even fought at 140, but I have to ask, is fighting at 143 such a difference then fighting at 147? either way it's above 140, and if JMM wants to fight at over 140, why not 147? because just like 145 ... 147 is also Welterweight. is 3-4 pounds such a drastic difference?

this is true, going up against one of the best, Juan's stock shouldn't take an enormous hit even if he loses, you have to give up something to get it, and if Floyd cannot make 140, well then Marquez will have to go up

this is true, JMM doesn't have the greatest size but we're not very sure if PBF can in fact get down to 140 (confirmation please)

brought this up before but if Marquez thinks he'll have a "significant disadvantage" above 140 ... what difference will fighting at 143 make compared to 147, the welterweight max. .. because 143, 144, even 144 are still all above 140 and considered Welter also

I just don't see that much difference in poundage between 143, 144 or straight up Welter .. because as long as it's above 140 and 147 or under it's still considered Welter, so why not cut the Catchweight bs and just fight at Welter?

and then there's this argument, if Floyd really can't make 140 anymore and Team Marquez believes Juan gives too much in fighting above 140 .... well they don't have to take the fight .. it's as simple as that

(or maybe that makes too much sense.)
