A lot of fighters shouldn't have been heavyweights then. Moorer beat Holyfield and won a heavyweight title twice.

I can't say too many bad words about Moorer because Moorer vs Cooper is one of my all-time favorite fights. Respect to him for getting up from the canvas twice to knock Cooper out. I do know however he wasn't the easiest man to work with.
Fighting is a lot different from training though.

I believe that Atlas' words didn't have much of an effect on how Moorer fought Holyfield. He fought a consistent, smart fight and won a very close decision.

The problem was he couldn't stay as a LHW, and he problems Emmanuel Steward, I think it was just a lack of training on Moorer's part. When he decided to move up to heavyweight he started eating like a hog.

Because we've never seen that happen before to a Foreman opponent....

He was beating the crap out of Foreman up to that point and if he would have stuck to what Atlas was telling him, he would have won that fight but his ego got in the way and he got taken out by a punch that ripped through the mouth-piece and busted his mouth.

But he did start at LH.

I know Moorer was a pretty good boxer, and being a southpaw he might be able to lend his hand in helping Manny.

I just don't see him being in camp with them long. It wouldn't surprise me if Roach let him go after the Hatton fight, or before Manny's next fight post-Hatton.

It seems to me Tyson would've been a better fit. He obviously has the respect, love, and knowledge of the game. Plus Manny loves Mike Tyson, I think that would've been a good motivator for Manny, training with his idol.

Manny admitted on the 24/7 that he didn't even recognize Moorer when he first saw him, and that he had to be reminded of who he was.

But can Tyson teach or Run a Gym? Not sure at this point he can.

I'm not positive, but Moorer seems more on the drill-instructor side. And from what I saw with that brief moment with him teaching Manny and talking to Freddie, he seemed on point.

But I'm on the outside looking in so it's hard to tell. And at the end of the day, it is up to Freddie, Pac and the fighters to decide how good Moorer is. Results are key.
            We'll see.

Agreed. It seems like his ego wants him to take over Wild Card...I don't know why Roach even lets him around so much to be honest....

Atlas' book says he basically has separation anxiety..

I'm not saying Tyson is the posterchild for sanity and stability. I'm just saying given his past history, I wouldn't think Moorer is capable of teaching a student and running a gym either of them.

Let's be honest here : Both Tyson and Moorer were absolutely dreadful to work with and stubborn as hell.

Me too I've never liked him. He thinks he is better then what he really was. I remember watching the Legendary Nights and thinking man this guy is an *******. Even tonight on 24/7 he still seemed like a ****

I wish Roach would have accepted Tyson's offer, what an appealing dynamic that would be.
