Like Bringer said he had to be willed by his trainer (Atlas) in a HW title fight, plus he gave Teddy all sorts of headaches because of the weird things he would do.

I don't know about him personally, a slick boxer none the less. He often fought flat-footed, that's a sign that he wasn't at his best as a heavyweight. And I doubt he's chinney, it's just that he isn't a natural heavyweight, would of done well as a cruiserweight, but that division was dead during that time.
