This is a crass short-termist move that is terrible for his long term prospects, IMO. If he gets a tough first defence, it could destroy him.

Roach says he wasn't having any problems making Lightweight.

And LOL @ Warren pretending that he tried to make an immediate fight with Marquez, when both Khan and Roach have recently said they know he's not ready for that level yet.
Well he would have to either defend the belt by fighting his mandatory or bums, We all know how Warren works but i also depends on how Khan performs against Kotelnik, If he wins and was impressive in doing so they might want him to stay at 140 but if he loses then the excuses are there about how he isnt a natural 140 fighter.

And we all know Warren would never have asked about a JMM fight at the moment not that i think JMM would be interested anyway.

If bums he'll lose respect and suffer financially. Sky Box Office wouldn't like it. Worse still, he couldn't learn anything or improve as a fighter by fighting bums. What he needs is learning fights against people who are not bums but not quite world class either, like David or Julio Diaz or Alex Arthur.

If he has to fight a mandatory and it is an elite fighter, what then? That could destroy him at this point in his career. Or a prospect with a big punch like Ortiz, who is actually quite likely to be his first mandatory - he's not ready for that yet.

I actually think Kotelnik is quite a good learning fight for him, which he has a good chance to win - but I just don't think he's ready to be fighting for a belt.

Really feel Kotelnik should take this.

Khan has no experience at 140,

Amir doesn't seem to think it will be a test. He isn't ready for Marquez anyway, and has been clear on this. Warren's so full of crap!

          OK, Frank, we believe you.
samurai!!! do you really believe that its just a coinsidence that 1 day kahn is calling kotelnic "the worst champion ever" & then a week later he`s fighting him for a "world" title?

I do. Kotelnik probably is the least deserving belt holder between Lightweight and Jnr Welter at the moment (although he's very far from being the worst ever, but that's just hyperbole). Which is probably both why he said that and why Warren tried to make this fight. But for Khan to say that last week, and then for him to say this week "I have watched all his fights and I have always been impressed by Kotelnik" just makes him look ******. I'm fairly sure he wouldn't have said that last week if he had known this was coming up.
