So dominate at his weight? What are you smoking...DM was the #1 contender for 5 years and Roy never fought him and Tarver was clear #1 guy when he moved up....How the **** was he dominante?
Forgive me if i'm wrong but i always thought being dominante ment you'd smoked everyone in sight.
He was fighter of the 90's. They only give that to the best fighter son.Comment

Have you saw the fights? You actually think Taylor beat him twice?
Also, Hopkins should have been out the MW division long before then, he was having to train every day of the year to be able to make it. He was a different fighter after the move up.
Taylors not and has never been on Hopkins level....I can just imagine the depression JT went into after watching Nard school the guy who'd knocked him out and beat him.
Hopkins at 160 couldn't fight 12 rounds at any sort of pace come the end of his reign...Look at his last fight though, he was moving like a 25 YO.Last edited by The Gunner; 04-13-2009, 09:37 PM.Comment

Roy's very first close fight was against Antonio Tarver. I think you will agree Tarver is not the best person he fought. But again at age 36 his first tough fight was with Tarver. So for for 15 years he dominated. Hes been average from 36-40. Big woop. Its called Aging sons. Look at Jordan, Look at Ali, Look at Jack Nicklas. They all age. And none were as good at 40 as they were at 30. Roy isnt going to be either. A prime Roy was unbeatable. FACT. And you know what I don't have to say anything. Fighter of the Decade says it all baby. They don't give to many of those out. He won it going away. Noone else was close. Holla. Your argument is with the boxing world that gave him the fighter of the 90's. I just happen to agree with them. That doesn't mean ****, Roy never done it. Fair enough, there was no point in fighting a shot DM at that time but Tarver had came back from that loss and reversed it, he was the clear #1 contender.
Please dont say he's wiped the division out though because that is utter horse ****.Comment

I cant beleive what i'm reading here. How can you say Tarver was his first close fight when he'd already lost to Griffin?Roy's very first close fight was against Antonio Tarver. When the Griffin fight was stopped the cards were split and HBO had Griffin two rounds up.
Come on now, you're making little sense.Comment

If the hard-fought unanimous 12-round decision against Bernard Hopkins thrust Jones on the main stage in 1993, it was his thrilling and astonishing win against unbeaten James Toney a year later that established his long reign as boxing's best "pound-for-pound" titlist. He literally toyed with the rattled Toney, mocking him with the now famous "chicken move" before staggering him to the ropes with a blurring left en route to a shockingly easy win.Comment
