They already are moving up a weight class, its just "unofficially".
Which is another term for "lie".

This would assume you weigh in on the same day, so no Valero wouldnt fight Pavlik.
Your middleweight class says 150-185 on fight night right?

That would mean Hatton vs Pavlik.

Jesus christ ex, dont take me so literally, lol. I'm sure the system can by fine tuned a bit...I was just using those as my starting point. All I'm saying is that we can eliminate a ton of weight classes since most of the time they are only ceremonial and people never actually weigh in at them.

What kind of joke is this?
How bout you fight at the weight you naturally come in. Whats the point of dropping 25 pounds of "in between fight" weight only to put 10 or 15 pounds on after the Friday weigh in.
Its dishonest and only serves to give the alphabets more paper champions and more revenue.
I got an idea. Lets go Lightweight, Middleweight and Heavyweight. Period.
Boxing isnt about weight anyway, its about skill. This has been proven time and time again.
Lets stop bull****ting the public with all the weights when the fighters never come in at the division their supposedly fighting at. Well, actually, Oscar did...and he looked like hell.

              Lightweight-125-150
              Middle-150-185
Heavy-185 and up (Dempsey and Louis weighed 185 and kicked ass on guys 6'6 250+ on a regular basis)

              Problem solved.
And for those who think those weights are too wide. Man up. The heavy weights do it all the time.

              same rules for everyone!!

how this gives an advantage to others??? everyone can play by the same rules..!!

making fighters weight in the same day... could it be more dangerous.... after all that hard work.. they need to rest their body at least 1 day!!!! it would be more dangerous going into the ring looking all tired and weak. You wont have what it takes to be in a battle..

              thats my oppinion..

same rules for everyone.. .i dont think it should be change.. .or that gives any advantage to any other...

if you make the weight and the other guy accept it and sign the contract!!

              its on!! fair & square!!

              ps...

im not even gonna bother... in replying about your 3 div weight class!

Doesnt mean its right though, When Gatti fought mayweather at 140, what did he weigh on fight night? Iv'e seen people say he was coming in the ring nearly at Middleweight for a super lightweight fight, I dont see how that is fair to mayweather, seeing as he is genuine JR welter and his opponent comes in much heavier than him, fighters can get really hurt when this kind of **** happens, a 140 pounder getting hit in the head by a middleweight just isn't right imo.

Good because I can barely understand what your saying anyway. But you know what is "more dangerous"??
Having guys dry out only to put on 10-20 pounds of weight the very next day. If you're really concerned about safety any doctor can tell you that those kind of weight fluctuations are not healthy.
You just disagree with me cuz Margarito is Jesus. Get out of here you bitter Puerto Rican. Cotto lost, dont blame my thread. Blame Margarito's fists of fury.

and what happened?? he was just to slow... (ok past prime 2) but... it didnt help him at all!! if you match him with some bum... hitme in the face type of fighter it might be an advantage ... but if not...

if you face another good well dicipline figher.. you will take advantage of that !! and exploit thoses points.. .like going to the body.. .etc etc....

that will also will help the fighters.. to get proper representation.. cos.. if you know you are about to face a guy who can be a threat for you because of that.... well then... you should look for your league!!!!!
