First off, it's impressive to recover from that beating seeing as how he lost every round and had Hopkins teeing off on him endlessly. One point I believe Hopkins started throwing at around 55 seconds left in the round and didn't stop until the bell rang. He knew how to beat Johnson, by not backing up because the man doesn't time well. Dawson was able to demonstrate the same when he beat him.

Second, did you see those fights? They are widely regarded as bull**** robberies and is the only man to be considered to have been robbed as many times as Emmanuel Augustus.

Johnson was undefeated and one of the big boys at the time. Went on to become bigger, and imo, leagues better than Calzaghe.

Especially considering Calzaghe pulled out not once, but TWICE!! from a bout against this guy

Johnson at 168 was nothing like the same level as Calzaghe.

Your Hate of Calzaghe really makes you look ****** at times.

Roberto's Duran over Ernesto Marcel, Marcel went on to beat Alexis Arguello(ATG), Samuel Serrano(future long reigning title holder at 130lbs), and won the title from Antonio Gomez(who has a win over Esteban DeJesus).
Duran was 19 years old when he TKOed him, yet this win is never even mentioned for him.

Buddy McGirt beating Simon Brown. apart from Brown having a long title reign at Welterweight, he went on to beat the stuffing out of Terry Norris at 154lbs.

Edwin Rosario's TKO win over Loreto Garza. Garza was highly regarded at 140lbs and coming off of wins over Juan Martin Coggi, Vinny Pazienza and Frankie Warren, and he got toasted by Rosario in 3 rounds. most people forget this huge victory because Roasrio got surprisingly stopped by some unknown Japanese guy in one round in his next fight.

John Stracy's win over Jose Napoles. Napoles hadnt lost to anyone but Carlos Monzon and Billy Backus cut stoppage(avenged) in about 10 years, and Stracy turned Napoles' face into ground beef with his jab. Napoles is severly underrated in his own right.

Mike McCallum's win over Michael Watson. so much credit is givin to Benn and Eubank, but people fail to put together the fact that Watson knocked out Benn, was (in many people's eyes) robbed in the first Eubank fight and almost ended prime Eubank in the rematch as well. McCallum pretty much gave him a boxing lesson, and broke him.

he is 43 for crying out loud, get it into your head. All he could do was steal an SD of a 43 year old!!

Hopkins went on to fight Pavlik, What did Calazghe do? He should have faced Pavlik before he faced Hopkins, or atleast after, but instead he went to to face Roy Jones, who was shot est. 5 years ago. Yet, he still claimed Roy Jones was in his "Prime" when he faced him.
and you proved his point. just about everyone puts Hopkins in their top 3 pound for pound, gives him all the credit in the world for beating Pavlik after he fought Calzaghe, and talks about how great his is, but Calzaghe, who wasnt in his prime either beats Hopkins, Calzaghe gets no credit. And Hopkins wasnt trying to win that fight, he was trying to steal it with that constant holding, headbutting, and then faking an injury to buy time when Calzaghe started getting into his rhythm.

Yep, I completely agree. The Marcel win is highly underrated. Most people don't even know that he beat him or certainly don't mention it. As someone else also mentioned his win over Jorge Castro when he was in his late forties is huge. I also think his win over Thompson is very underrated. He is one of the greatest fighters to come out of Australia. He had demolished some fantastic fighters and was just taken apart slowly. Incredible.

I still think his most underestimated win is Buchanan. Obviously people cite it as one of his bigger wins but Buchanan was absolutely stunning and in the longest win streak against amazing opposition. His only loss was in over forty fights was supposedly a terrible decision. He completely dismantled him in every way. With the amount of great fighters that Ken beat, people still just say "Buchanan wasn't even that good".

Buchanan was easily one of the greatest fighters of that period and hugely underrated as a lightweight. IMO.

Still people are acting like Cotto is somehow behind Shane as #1 ww in the world.

Valdez beat Briscoe the first time on points and the in 3rd fight on points, but the second fight knocked him out in 7. Thats a very impressive win, and dosen't get talked about enough. It was the only time Biscoe was ever knocked out in a fight, the rest of his defeats were decisions or DQ.
Yep, this was huge. Valdez is an amazing fighter. He reminds me of De Jesus of Duran's LW reign. Without Duran or Monzon these guys would have ruled for a long time. Well, Bunchanan would have had something to say about De Jesus. I'm not sure who would have won that. Possibly Buchanan. Nonetheless, Valdez was an amazing fighter and his stoppage of Briscoe is incredible. Benny was one of the toughest fighters ever.
