    Extremely underrated wins?

Think of some fights that really make you scratch your head and wonder why more attention is not paid to these fights.

I'll start with one that was on my mind.

I was thinking about how good Ike Quartey was... undefeated for a long time... got a bad decision against ODLH, lost again to Vargas... came back after like 5 years, and made Vernon Forrest look terrible, before Vernon had a really good run, proving that Forrest wasn't just shot. Really, only Wright has made Quartey look terrible.

Quartey had a killer jab that would have given almost anyone trouble in his prime, including someone like Mayweather who has always had trouble against a good jab IMO.

Anyway... I was thinking about how people make claims like, "Vargas lost all of his big fights", and that is complete bull****. He clearly beat Quartey in a really terrific performance, and yet he gets almost no credit for this fight.

Why is that? A convincing win over a prime Quartey is an absolute thing of beauty IMO.

Any other wins come to mind that can hang with Vargas-Quartey?

Recently what comes to mind is Edwin Valero's win over Vicente Mosquera, Mosquera was ranked in the top 10 by the Ring and Valero won that fight in a war, he doesn't get much credit for it though.

I think Hatton's win against castillo is underrated...castillo still had something left...and was ranked number 1 contender for the jww division....and hatton ko'd him

I don't know anything about Mosquera... in fact, didn't even recognize his name the first time I boxrec'd Valero... you are probably on to something.

I wholeheartedly disagree with this. He had looked pretty bad against a subpar fighter in Reyes, and an okay fighter in Ngoudjo... He couldn't even stand up in the Hatton fight for god's sake... I defenitely disagree, but I don't have any qualms with you thinking that way... I suppose it's all relative dependent on who you ask.

Definitely... I don't care how shot Morales was... the fact that Diaz eeked out a decision over an older, more shot Morales, shows that Raheem clearly has some good stuff in him, because he absolutely dominated that fight.

Very sad fight to watch for me.

Mosquera wasn't great or anything but he had good skills, was a good all around fighter, was ranked in the top 10 by the Ring and Valero retired him. Very good fight too, you should watch it if you can.

Seriously? Castillo was so shot when Hatton got hold of him at the age of 33. Not to mention that his best days were down at Lightweight. To be honest I think that Victory was false confidence for Hatton.

see everybody craps on this win...but if your going to say castillo was shot...then you must say oscar was shot against pac, thats false confidence there....castillo was number 1 contender jww, still could probably get good wins against most of teh top 10 a jww at the time....hatton def has an underrated win.

Everyone craps on the win because it isn't a big win if you take everything into account and forget about ratings.
If anyone thinks Oscar wasn't shot against Pac then they're smoking Crack. Sure in the lead up to the fight it wasn't so evident, but from the moment the bell rang it was.
