The reason is that he's not american and many who hate on him are Floyd fans so they have to put him down, but if they ever fought eachother they would be shaking.
Cotto got beat by a loaded Margarito, but has fought undefeated fighters and other quality opponents. I like to see mayweather fight Margarito, Mosley, Berto, Clottey etc. A fighter will always be remember for who he went against. Like Leonard vs Duran, Holyfield vs Bowe, Trinidad vs De La Hoya, Mosley vs De LA Hoya, Hangler vs Hearns, etc.

Haven't you heard??? All you have to do to be an ATG these days is say you are loudly.

If anybody challenges you say you won't fight them because they are not on your level of ATGness...

Say your better then the best never back it up...take easy fights have a fan base that insists you never have to fight anybody that posses a threat to your ATG status because you already are an All Time GREAT.

            It's a win win.

All Cotto has to do is say he's the a ATG throw money at a camera and be on wifeswap.

            he can't miss.

He could be, but he'd have to do an awful lot. I'm talking, beat Clottey, Mosley, Mayweather, and Williams. Maybe Margarito. If he did that he'd be one of the best WW's of all time and an ATG.

But that's pretty doubtful. He probably won't be an ATG, but I think he's a surefire HOF'er. The boxing HOF isn't that hard to get into. Cotto just has to stay relevant for another 2ish years, win one or two big fights and he's a lock.

I think he's expressed that he wants to make only a short run, so it won't likely be a consideration.
