Edwin Valero’s Perfect Punch Storms The Lightweights

I think Edwin Valero would Knock the Baby Bull out cold mostly due to Juan Diaz pressure style coming in throwing punches with lil defense. Valero hits too hard for the Baby Bull to charge in exchanging punches with the lil power he has. The same goes for Michael Katsidis. Only a real counter/defensive technician will beat Valero. If a fighter gets hit a lot in the ring then I'm sure Valero will beat them.
I would pick Valero as the favorite against JMM/Hatton/Pacquiao. We still don't know how good Valero chin is but if he keeps his hands down like that then obviously he's not worried. I'm not with the excuses, first people say "Who has Valero fought"? Then he KO's a guy that haven't been KO'd since 1995 in the 2nd round? now that guy he KO'd wasn't a notable win for Valero? That's BS. Didn't Pitalua come off of a impressive KO win against Jose Armando Santa Cruz? Valero is a problem for anyone from 135 to 140.Last edited by GRUSTLER; 04-05-2009, 09:27 PM.

damn....he's really got the punch! lost my prediction there. Nevertheless, valero didn't prove anything yet in terms of defense, chin, boxing ability and endurance. time for him with mesh it good with the other LW and prove himself some more. he's not in the same league with manny, ricky, jmm.

ummmm....Based on what?
Him knocking out crappy unknown fighters in Japan and blowing out a 40 year old journeyman whose biggest win was against another crappy journeyman Santa Cruz?
Put down the blunt bro.

can get hit flush (LIKE THEY OFTEN DO) Valero has a chance to KO any
of them. His power is VERY IMPRESSIVE and he KO'd a guy that hasn't
been KO'd since 95? Now you want to discredit his win because the guy
is 39? Bernhard is 42? Mosley is 37? Stop making excuses because the
only reason why you think Valero stands no chance is because he hasn't
fought a mainstream name and that's Bull****.
What makes JMM/Pac/HAtton so unbeatable to a guy with 25 wins all by KO? Bottom line, Valero is a threat. This is his first fight on US soil & Pitalua was supposed to be a test for him especially since he came off a big win. I don't get how people on this site are always quick to discredit a fighters victory but before it, says he has no chance to win it? Valero came to US and made quick work of a competitor that has no history of being stopped in more than 10 years and you want to take that accomplishment away from him? I guarantee Valero wins every fight from here on.

howr u doin'? yeah i agree... all valero needs is one shot to make things interesting in these fights against the lites in & around his division...
but if u still remember john mugabi, he was like valero in many ways... high KO percentage and bouts that would not last long...
but when mugabi stepped up his competition, & met an elite fighter, he crumbled and eventually fell down... & IMHO, defeating a 39 year old journey man who never really fought back proved little... a journeyman... mosley & hokins are no journeymen...

And yeah competition level has everything to do with it. I'm pretty sure JMM/PAC/Hatton can go fight in Japan and be 25-0 with 25 ko's fighting the scrubs Valero's fought.
I'm not trying to discredit his win over whoever that was, but to say he's ready to fight the h.o.f guys is absurd.
Punchers chance?? Maybe...but all those guys have proven they can take big shots and come back and win.
Valero is what he is. A strong, limited, slow, predictable slugger.
If those fights ever come off I'll gladly take some of your points from you if you really wanna stand behind this guy.
But Valero hasnt done anything to deserve a shot at the big time yet. I'd like to see how he does against Juan Diaz, Guzman, Katsidis or Campbell before he gets Pac/JMM/Hatton.

Katsidis maybe Campbell (If Campbell fights him like he did against FuneKa) the only one I think will give him problems is Guzman because Guzman
fights technical and evasive in his fights but for guys who want to go
punch for punch with Valero is going down. Only a really good defense
wil kill a really strong offensive fighter. JMM Marquez has been dropped
by Barrera and Pac tagged by him would you say that Barrera is faster
than Valero? Hatton gets tagged a lot too. All I'm saying is that Valero
is a big threat for anyone from 135 to 140.
