Edwin Valero’s Perfect Punch Storms The Lightweights

[QUOTE=F l i c k e r;5019825]Do you think we are all getting a little ahead of ourselves? It was a vacant title. So can he really be an official lightweight champ? He didn't beat the champ to become the champ. He had to wait for the champ to vacate before rising to the challange.[/Quote
Pacquaio moved up on weight, thats why that belt is vacant. Cotto has fought for 3 vacant belts, so I guess hes not a champ?? GET OUT OF HERE!!!

edited to add: or perhaps Valero's hand wraps should be checke for illegal substance.

you can tell valero does hit hard, with both hands,he seems heavy handed...and about him facing marquez, well marquez doesn't seem to have much power in this weight class, but respectable power, and valero has been down before,my question is if valero fights like he did last night, come out swinging and doesn't hit marquez, will he run out of gas by mid fight?..does he have a plan B if he can't connect with his punches? can he outbox marquez?? i doubt it...but it will be a fun fight to watch. he does hava a punchers chance though,so we can't blink in that potential match up..lol

Marquez has bigger and better fights to look forward to than to face Valero. Valero is not even on his level. Yeah, he has power. So what...he is garbage. His technique is garbage and he throws punches from his hips. Who has he faced?

Pitalua was supposed to be a serious test for Valero, entering the bout off of a career best knockout win over former World title challenger Jose Armando Santa Cruz in 2008, but Valero’s power was everything it was advertised to be. With the win, Valero adds a second title belt to his collection, having previously held the WBA crown at Jr. Lightweight. [details]

Valero does have horrible technique, and at this weight not extremely fast. He does have some pop that's for sure but he is light years away from being anything close to Marquez. I like to see him fight someone like Katsidis or a Juan Diaz. I think guys like pac or Hatton destroy this guy. Punches are extremely wide, and his level of competition is nothing to brag about. Arum needs to get this guy a legitimate fight, NOW. Hell I even think Khan would destroy him. Cash in while you can Bob because your boy's chin that is sticking out just begging to be hit will eventually be and what happens afterwards is anybody's guess. I'm going out on a limb and saying that the result will not be good.

Common whats with all the hate. The guy is 25-0 with 25KO's. At this point I'd love to see him get in there with Marquez. I saw the fight and I think many people are underestimating him. Calling him slow and what not. He seemed very accurate. Before his finishing flurry, all of his punches seemed like meaningful ones. I like what I see and won't be surprised if he beat Marquez.
