How did he come apart against Oscar? He won that fight.

Bazooka takes too long to adjust. That is what ultimately did him in against the elite.

to answer the question, its hard to not favor floyd in this fight. the jab is the main issue for floyd. but its just not enough to beat floyd at this point. hes imo, too dynamic to let quartey dictate a fight with his jab. and once that stops working for ike, what does he do next? the vargas and wright fights kinda illustrate that point. he doesnt have a 2nd gear past his very good boxing skills.

I don't know, I've always thought he won clearly. Not a domination or anything, but a clear win.

The Wright fight was a little unfair. Ike was way out of his weight class and...man...that fight wasn't even right. And Ike actually did pretty well (in spite of what the cards said).

But your point stands. If you let Ike dominate with his jab it was over. However, when you adjusted he struggled to counter that. That wasn't the case circa 1993-1994 but I'm not sure what happened. He just became very dependent on that one weapon and that made him one-dimensional. And a one-dimensional fighter isn't beating a prime Floyd.

My opinions definitely changed since then, Floyd took full advantage of his physical gifts and would lead a lot with lefts/ straight right hands without having to set it up much. That's one of the many things people used to bring up, the fact that Mayweather wasn't jabbing as much as he was suppose to, it hasn't always been like that but it's definitely a habit he picked up for a small portion of his career. After Sr. got with him he started utilizing the jab to it's full potential, this happened during the Marquez fight, I understand that Roger was training him then but Sr. brought it to his attention. I like Floyd in this one, it'll be competitive regardless but I'm going with Mayweather at this point.
