But your point stands. If you let Ike dominate with his jab it was over. However, when you adjusted he struggled to counter that. That wasn't the case circa 1993-1994 but I'm not sure what happened. He just became very dependent on that one weapon and that made him one-dimensional. And a one-dimensional fighter isn't beating a prime Floyd.
i enjoyed the wright fight. he was out of his prime weight and age but he looked good imo. two master boxers going at it is always fun. and yes the fight was quite competitive, remember watching it with my girl in college at the time who happened to be Ghanaian in fact. lol.

I think Oscar was also a bit rusty and slowing down before the knockdown. He seemed to be slowing pretty bad in the 11th.

That's one of the many things people used to bring up, the fact that Mayweather wasn't jabbing as much as he was suppose to, it hasn't always been like that but it's definitely a habit he picked up for a small portion of his career. After Sr. got with him he started utilizing the jab to it's full potential, this happened during the Marquez fight, I understand that Roger was training him then but Sr. brought it to his attention. I like Floyd in this one, it'll be competitive regardless but I'm going with Mayweather at this point.
exactly why i stated at this point. floyd has changed a few times as a fighter. not drastic, but hes eveolved since u first penned this thread. this floyd, id have a hard time seeing him lose this fight. would be a great fight tho.

Had Ike closed the show properly, no way you give that fight to dlh...no
Coincidence that dlh never rematched him

People forget about that, you can watch the Mitchell, Judah, Baldomir fights and clearly see that Mayweather wasn't utilizing his jab, simply shooting lead right hands early, obviously missing as he's getting the timing down, then landing it with insane accuracy once he got the timing down. That used to be Floyd, he may not have the same physical gifts but it's pretty fuckin' amazing how he's improved technically since then, even at this stage.

Sadly the judges had Oscar winning regardless of what happened in the 12th, no?
