I think this fight is going to be a lot closer than what most die hard fans are hoping for.
Undoubtedly, both fighters have improved recently. Manny no longer relies solely on his left cross. His footwork isn't on Floyd's level but it's enough to give him an advantage against bigger, slower fighters in that he gets countered a lot less nowadays. It seems this thing about Manny not punching on his back foot or when retreating is largely true for most fighters. I can't say Ricky Hatton is any better in that regard. Not too many boxers can retreat, stop, quickly plant and fire back with pop ( a la Ali, Leonard and Jones Jr.).
Ricky's the bigger, stronger guy. He can hurt Manny for sure, to the body or head. What makes him more dangerous in this fight is that he's becoming smart about his aggression. He's got decent speed, enough to time Manny. And I don't know if Manny can withstand constant pressure for 12 rounds because he's not a defensive specialist like PFB.
I see Manny trying to keep the fight in the center of the ring, turning Ricky all night, picking his shots and jumping in only if he stuns him. That would get him a comfortable UD. I don't see Manny getting a KO. But if Ricky can cut the ring, work the body and bully the Pacman against the ropes, Manny is done by round 9. Looking forward to it!Comment

Funny how Hatton, feels Manny needs to improve his chin.....Hatton fails to acknowledge that Collazo almost had his ass out if he didn't get away by holding on for dear life, and Juan Lascano defitiely had his ass hurt in his own backyard and Hatton avoided disaster by clinging on for dear life, and lest we forget Hatton's head getting knocked by PBF's picture perfect left......
So Hatton I hope you improved you chin too.......
Essentially, Hatton is looking to come into the ring at about 150+ pounds....Boxing needs to regulate this nonsense....Hatton will try to out muscle and bully Pac-Man....I just hope it doesn't turn out to be a snoozefest where all we are doing is watching a wrestling match.......Comment

It's true that he's a slick technician. But it's also true that there's no pop in his punches any more, due to his fragile hands. IMO, his no. 1 contender status was undeserved. But Hatton did show very good footwork in that fight to nullify Malignaggi's game - he never had time to fire off a combination because Hatton was onto him too quickly. And he did show better head movement and a better jab than he had for quite a while, and looked sharper overall. But still, comparing Malignaggi with Pacquiao is silly, because of the lack of any pop in his punches.Comment

Paulie? We saw how he stands with the elites (Cotto), yes he might of ****** it throughout the full 12 with Cotto but took a serious punishment in return. Being able to just last the full 12 doesnt get you a win though. His fights with Ndou were pretty close as well and I thought the second fight was closer. Paulie does have boxing skills dont get me wrong but not enough to **** with the big boys.Comment

Manny lost to Medgoen of Thailand with a body shot(Lowblow maybe)
The other lost was not a body shot! it was a solid right into the face by his fellow Filipino fighter Rustico Torrecampo...you can watch it on youtube if you like.
Pacquaio was winning rounds 1 and 2 but got careless. Manny got knocked out cold (eyes crossed) and was not able to beat the count.
At the beginning of that interview Roach predicted a late KO, in the 9th, 10th or 11th round. Then the interviewer told him that Hatton had predicted he'd KO Manny in 6. Roach responded to that by saying that Pac would KO Hatton in 3. At that point Roach was trash talking in response to what he saw as trash talk by Hatton. Also, Floyd Snr had predicted Hatton would KO Pac in 1 round, not long before.
Roach's real prediction, which he has made in all subsequent interviews, is still a late round KO.
Roach does not encourage his fighters to look for an early KO, he knows it's risky, he conditions his fighters to go 12rds and he said if a KO comes it's a bonus.
So Roach saying that he will get pissed if Manny don't KO Ricky in 3... is Just Roach pissed-off by FMS's badmouthing.
with that said, even people without basic boxing experience can see that Paulie is not a big puncher
how can a boxer with an 18.52 KO percentage(Paulie) defeat a boxer with a 69.57 KO percentage(Ricky)? ----by points! which is hard to do when your opponent always comes toward you with punches..because he has full confidence that your punches can't affect him.Comment
