Hatton: "I Hope Pacquiao Improved His Body and Chin"

He hadn't improved enough in that fight to be able to beat Pac, but he's got another training camp with Floyd Snr in which to continue that improvement.

But the nagging question is whether he's fighting too far above his natural weight. The DLH fight proved very little.
A fighter who continues to move up weight divisions (unless he's at HW) MUST eventually hit a point where he's outgunned. We could well see Pac age very quickly against Hatton.

I agree that he needs to bully Pac to the ropes in order to win, but IMO he'll need to use head movement and jabs to allow him to do that without taking too much punishment on the way in; and he'll need to use angles in order for his body punching to be effective.

I think this fight is going to be a lot closer than what most die hard fans are hoping for.
Undoubtedly, both fighters have improved recently. Manny no longer relies solely on his left cross. His footwork isn't on Floyd's level but it's enough to give him an advantage against bigger, slower fighters in that he gets countered a lot less nowadays. It seems this thing about Manny not punching on his back foot or when retreating is largely true for most fighters. I can't say Ricky Hatton is any better in that regard. Not too many boxers can retreat, stop, quickly plant and fire back with pop ( a la Ali, Leonard and Jones Jr.).
Ricky's the bigger, stronger guy. He can hurt Manny for sure, to the body or head. What makes him more dangerous in this fight is that he's becoming smart about his aggression. He's got decent speed, enough to time Manny. And I don't know if Manny can withstand constant pressure for 12 rounds because he's not a defensive specialist like PFB.
I see Manny trying to keep the fight in the center of the ring, turning Ricky all night, picking his shots and jumping in only if he stuns him. That would get him a comfortable UD. I don't see Manny getting a KO. But if Ricky can cut the ring, work the body and bully the Pacman against the ropes, Manny is done by round 9. Looking forward to it!

I have to agree with Ricky Hatton in this article. Sounds dead on to me.
Manny has great speed & offensive abilities but his defense is suspect &
he has been hit relatively easy & has been wobbled from time to time. I do
think the majority of people are making their decisions in regards to Pacquiao dominating Hatton by what he did to Oscar De La Hoya. Manny has problems with guys that fight back. Manny is fast but not sure he will make Hatton look like a turtle in there and will have to fight backing up.
Hatton's been tested at 140 & 147, Pacquiao hasn't & we really don't know how much power Manny has and how he can take a real solid punch from a prime fighter conditioned to fight in a higher weight class. Don't understand why people think Manny is going to KO Hatton? In order for Manny to knock Hatton out he's going to have to engage him & Hatton has more than decent power & can take a punch pretty well. Manny has a chance to win this but I'm riding with Hatton.

Hatton keeps saying that Manny and Freddy are going off the Oscar performance, yeah well, Hatton is going off the Paulie performance...Not much to say there except if he thinks Manny's speed will be anything like Paulie in regards to handspeed(which brings the power), and footwork that allows him to dart in and out of range pretty damn quickly, then he's soooo in for a shock. Paulie's featherfisted, sloppy boxing style brings nothing in preparation for Manny, nothing! The only point Ricky has is that Manny has mostly fought at 130lbs and had the 2 fights in different divisions. Whatever helps his confidence.
