Hatton has fought bigger & stronger guys than Manny.
I see the fight going down like this, Manny's going to be using his speed & legs to box around Hatton but Ricky's going to be cutting the ring off & working Pac with the jab. Pac has decent power but don't see him being able to beat up on Ricky for 10 or 8 rounds without a response like he did against the bigger Diaz/De La Hoya. Manny is going to have to brawl in this one & I give the edge to Hatton, he will be too strong for Pacquiao & Hatton speed is underrated. Come fight night Pac won't have too much of an advantage over Ricky.
“I think it's going to be the best three rounds you've ever seen,” Roach said in a report posted on TheSun.co.uk. “It’s going to be short and sweet.”
I tend to believe Freddie’s credibility over any other trainers. He is never a braggart and certainly don’t lie just to hype his fyts. But "3 rounds"?? i think this statement is offbeat and was more to spite FMsr. However, Roach truly believes in, and feels, Manny’s power at his fighting weight of 145 lbs. Those who claim the FR is a joke are more than jokes themselves. But then,…let’s us all “wait and see”….

I really don`t see how you can be sure of anything especially if it`s the Pac ur talkin about. Beating that version of De La Hoya MAY OR MAY NOT prove that Pacman can beat the elite Welterweights. That remains to be seen. And it has nothing to do with your knowledge of boxing.
good reply Thwf....while those who claim to have 'little' or full knowledge of boxing have fallen flat on their faces whenever the Pacman is concerned!! i bet u Dave Rado predicted the dream match to be a mismatch in favor of Manny......ryt mate?

      • Funny how peoples perceptions change.

Against DLH hes gonna get crushed by DLH power, not alot considered that Pacmans speed is too fast and will be much of a factor of wearing DLH down...

Now people are like. ooh yea Pacmans speed is gonna murder Hatton, not thinking about Hattons power which he constantely hits you with and not just stands there and takes a beating like Weight-drained past prime DLH.

Having said that, the DLH fight did prove that Pac can take most of his speed and a lot of his power up to weights above 135. But it didn't prove whether or not he can take enough of his speed and power up with him to beat elite fighters who are not weight drained, at those weights - or how well he can take heavy punches from elite fighters at those weights.
i agree that Pac's win over 'that' oscar did not prove that Manny can handle the elite WW. Freddie believes that this time Manny does not belong in the division, and so he said "that will be our last at WW and Manny will stay at 140".

did the lost to Manny proved that oscar is shot, not just weight drained? this is still remains to be seen if oscar fyts again....

Hey, that’s very presumptuous. How can u be so sure that it will happen. Here’s why it wouldn't happen? Would Oscar fyt Ricky at a catch weight of 143lbs?? NEVER! Because ricky can go to 147 at least! and Ricky already intimated that he won’t fyt oscar, before Manny came into the picture. And who a, b, c level fighters do u think will fyt oscar and at what weight? Oscar will be very different if he fought another fighter “that night”……NOW that is a more realistic assumption.

            • fresh from the press

Ring Magazine survey chooses Pacquiao over Hatton

Of the 20 respondents,17 boxing personalities said that Pacquiao will prevail over Ricky Hatton on May 2.

Among those who believe that Pacquiao will win are Hatton’s former foes Paul Malignaggi and Luis Collazo.

i wonder what the 17 sees in Manny....or sees in Ricky for that matter!!

That's my thing, people really think Pacquiao is the flash. Maybe compared to guys like De La Hoya and Diaz but Hatton? I think Hatton is going to surprise Manny with his speed as well & stick that jab in his face all night. I hear you with Malignaggi but you have to take into consideration that Malignaggi went the distance with Miguel Cotto & his only two loses are from Cotto/Hatton with Hatton winning by stoppage. Malignaggi held on to Hatton numerous times not to fall by jabs alone. Plus Pauli is fast & had to rely on his speed & skill to make up for his lack of power & Hatton totally dominated him.
Malinaggi was totally dominated because he injured his hand and even though he uses 1 jab look what he did to the face of hatton? Anyway malinaggi won 1 round i guess... After the fight malinaggi also admitted that cotto's punches are still powerful than that of hatton...

Well, we will see if hatton will be the one to suprrise pacquiao or it will be pacquiao who will surprise hatton come fight night... that is why i can't wait for this one since they have both the ability to win their fight... We will witness it come may 2...

True, the Ricky vs. Paulie fight didn't prove that much because of Paulie's situation which he basically admitted he may be mentally shot or at least messed up because of his hand problems.

What the fight did show however is that Ricky can retool and start to use his jab again, put punches together, move his head a bit more, stop all the non-stop grappling as your first choice move, and re-energize.
He looked like crap against Lazcano and he won that fight by UD. Although, Lazcano was punching and Paulie was barely. Either way, I thought if we just look at what Hatton was doing differently, how he improved from the Lazcano fight, he still has a better chance now to beat Pac than he did prior.

For Pac, I'm not sold he has leaped to the next level of ability just because he beat-up an average fighter in Diaz and an Oscar that was a walking dead man.

What I do like about Pac now that he has progressed over the years is that he has added is a little more movement and a sweet right-hook that has really been top notch. He really is at his best and that is incredible given his career. Most fighters would have washed out by now.

Or Hatton should watch Pacman with ODLH or with D. Diaz, so he will atleast know his future on 02 May.
