How do you view Cotto's LOSS to Margarito.. now..

i think the cheating was out of order but iv been thinking, plaster by its nature when it gets bashed it just crumbles its not the hardest matarial certainly not as hard as the bones in you hand, im struggling to see what great advantage it would give him i think its more to protect margs hands than cause damage ?

That would be the case if it were a big object (i.e. a Vase or something in the form of a shape). But the plaster was rubbed and wrapped with used gauze. That's all you would need for it to get hard along with the moisture from sweat inside the gloves. All it would take is a small amount for it to get hard enough to hurt someone bad, there wouldn't be any crumbling at all.

Although there is no proof of Margarito using illegal wraps against Cotto i personally feel he did.

Margarito was caught trying to use them against an old past his best Shane Mosley, so why the hell would he not use them against a undefeated multi dimensional punching machine who was rated the best at welterweight ?

I actually gutted really, I really liked Margarito after his performance against Cotto as it was one hell of a fight but now that victory and fight is tarnished.

I would like to see a rematch.

For all these idiots who state that 'Margherito was walking through Cotto's punches anyway' as a justification for plaster augmentation not being a factor in Cotto's loss ask yourself this;
Is anyone going to risk opening up and throwing their best shots and possibly leaving themselves open to illegally heavy and hard blows?

No!

They would do as Cotto did and throw more defensively and not commit to offense as they are receiving augmented punishment.

As the punishment builds up you would risk less and less and also be left more and more hurt as the punishment compounded.

I'm can't say that Margherito definitely cheated but once you have been caught cheating you open up that su****ion about every other fight you took part in. I feel the same way about every steroid user too.

Ban Margherito for life and EVERYONE else caught cheating.

so u believe that he was going to use plaster + the gauze block against an "old and shot" mosley but not for his biggest and most import fight against cotto?
he should be banned for life. not only he tried to use the block gauze...he also tried to use plaster!!! he was going to hurt and maybe damage real serious mosley because mosley have one of the best chin in the sports.

people should think in that: it's NOT just illegal wraps or how the did the wraps. we are talking about a two blocks made of gauze PLUS plaster. this is a serious intention on doing life-death damage

No i believe he used them against Cotto but it cant be proved, And cotto isnt the only one in this...There is clottey,williams,cintron and possibly g.johnson who can all claimed to be a victim of Margarito's plaster...My point is why is it that its only cotto's name that gets brought up???

maybe because cotto stayed in the pocket when he was supposed to get out of the way thinking that he could over power or out smart margarito. yes, some damage was to be made because that is the type of fighter that cotto is; not a peekaboo style like clottey or a lanky jab stay away style like williams. this was a war son, when cotto would stay on the ropes - as evidenced by the actual fight.

margarito had an enormous advantage over cotto due to the plaster while knowing that cotto would get down and dirty with him; dirty mexican.

I get that perfectly, Am not questioning Cotto's tactics or style but that fact that everyone is making it out like Cotto was the only victim in this..

He doesn't deserve the fight. That would be giving Margarito another big payday and would just be a bad look for the sport being Margarito is in the hot seat right now.

Now of course many Margarito fans will jump at the notion that Cotto's scared, but in the end there's a little thing called Principle. Boxing isn't a backyard sport where someone can just sanction a Revenge match. Many networks, promotional companies, etc won't want to be affiliated with a scandal which they would be doing including Margarito in any fight for that matter.
