He is a bucket of suck. He just isn't skilled. He performs poorly vs very questionable fighters. I mean... he doesn't even jab or use his height. He leans into punches that are thrown. He backs up instead of pressuring the smaller man. He will never be world class. Even his dad gets pissed off at how he fights.

If he cant take the criticism he shouldn't be headlining PPV cards asking people to pay to see him being taken to the limits by journeymen. He belongs on Azteca, ESPN FNF, maybe even SHObox or BAD.

It's all a business with this kid, from his dad to his promoter. You only call out DLH to make money not to prove yourself. He should be calling out Martinez, Forrest, Angulo, Kirkland if he wants to make a statement.

Arum is like Billy Mays selling snake oil! He wants people to buy a bull**** product and not complain. He should just give it away for free and build a customer base for it!

It's easy to say this kid is a bum and for the record, I don't think that he will be a great fighter but to call him a bum........?

As far as the PPV, it's easy to dissagree with them when you have a job and that's his job, the kid has ZERO amatuer experience and this is how he makes money. The money he is making in boxing is very good and I don't blaim the Chavez family for trying to make a living, you don't like it, don't buy it.

What do you want the Chavez family to do? Go into nuclear physics? They fight, thats what they do.

The investment to put in work now on free TV, or at least HBO/Showtime is that he could build his name and fan base and do PPV's 250,000, 500,000, etc. in the future. At this rate he's always going to be doing very low PPV numbers. That's bad business. Look at all the top money makers, all time - oscar de la hoya, mike tyson, evander holyfield. You know what they have in common? They all started out on free TV.

Well, we're actually talking management style.

"He could/should be making lots more PPV's....IF......"

You're probably right about the potential of Jr making more, but going back to my last point, if they haven't stopped doing these PPV events, it's because they're already making a profit if not big $$$.

Yea, DLH, Tyson, Holyfield all started out on free tv to establish their fan base to become PPV draws.
Chavez is already a PPV draw. EVEN THOUGH, he could have more, his team wouldn't be doing this if his 'minor' 10 or 20k wasn't a profit.

Also: We're viewing Jr from a boxing-fan-perspective - "why entertainment does he offer me"

I don't think that defines how good a fighter is.
          He owes us nothing.

I keep hearing that Chavez Jr. is a bum and will never even be a good fighter over and over in this place. There's a few things that I don't understand about that argument.

First off, he's young, very young. Some even say younger than the 21 years old he claims to be. Some close to him have admitted he can't be that old and is more like 19 yrs old but needed to start making money so the birth certificate was falsified.

Second, he never had an amateur career. He has about 40 fights so far and is undefeated. Granted it's with lesser opposition but this is sort of his "amateur career" he's going through right now.

There's a few things I see in him that are very good. He has very good fundamentals, you can tell he was taught very well by his father and fights a lot like him. He seems to have a good chin like his father and throws a great left hook to the body. He's tall and long for his weight, something his father never had.

There's a few bad things. He looks inexperienced at times and his defense needs major work. Even though he's tall and long he doesn't use them to his advantage and likes to brawl with his opponents and takes that advantage away from himself at times.

I would never say he is going to be as great as his father but I think people are jumping the gun when it comes to him being a "bum". I think with more fights under his belt and his body growing, he could be a GOOD fighter, maybe even contend for a belt.

            What do you guys think?
I wouldn't call him a bum but I don't think that he's a good fighter. And I also don't blame those who call him a bum because of all the hype surrounding this kid. He is slow, he was no power and his defense is horrible. I just can't see him improving that much.

They are going to throw him into tougher fights very soon. They have to because people are growing tired of watching him in the same old fights.

I feel bad for the kids because he's under so much pressure and carrying that name around isn't fair.

It's like being the son of Michael Jordan and expected to be a great basketball player.

why wouldn't he? Do you normally just blurt things out without having anything to base your opinion on.
I'm glad you ask , see he is already 39-0-1 and six year of PRO carrer have past and yet he has NEVER fought with a top 10 Contender at his weightclass NOR has he EVER fought ANYBODY that we know.

So if it look like ****, smell like **** the **** it is!!!!!

Well, he doesn't seem to have that big of a power. With all his youth he has hit opponents yet he cant take them out. He isn't that quick so no big advantage there. I've heard he is 23 so while he's young, but not that young. Perhaps his brother will be better.
