Ruiz Valuev and Chageav will fight each other again and again for the next decade.

Of course not, but I'm a Gamboa fan and would love to see him get a belt.

Someone else has probably noticed this, but if you go on boxrec.com, they name all the fighters who have fought or held the WBA super championship. In doing this, they have tarnished the great reigns of many terrific fighters. If you look up Eusebio Pedroza's marvelous career for example, it will say that he was the WBA "Ordinary" champion. The "Ordinary" was thrown in there to distinguish it from the "super."

I don't understand why fighters just trash all the titles and just go for the Ring Magazine belt. Ring doesn't charge sanctioning fees like the other bodies, and Ring has never stripped a champion. The major organizions are always coming up with garbage reasons to strip and award other fighters with thier trinkets.

It is really a shame because the WBA is the oldest sanctioning body and has had such great history going back to its days as the NBA. Now it is such a joke it is hard to tell the difference between the WBA and the WWE. No, in reality the WWE is probably a better sanctioning body then the WBA. Maybe ole Jim Bo should come on over and run the WBA. In closing I have to say that it really is pathetic and sad what has happened to boxing just in the last twenty-five years or so.

yeah the wba can do whatever they like cuz they are an old sanctioning body
but what they gonna do remove it?
there is more chance of the ibo becoming a 5th world title organization than one of the big 4 falling from the spot

So Gamboa gets a "title shot" against a 37-year-old guy who, in the past two years has 1. Lost badly to John and 2. Beaten one 1-9-1 opponent.
Rojas hasn't beaten a live fighter since outpointing a young Caballero six years ago.
So, I'm wondering if this is the WBA's way of keeping John from ever having to fight Gamboa. Because the WBA won't ever make their "super champion" fight their "interim ordinary champion" or whateverthe**** Gamboa will be.

                    So what

Could have been worse, they could have made John Ruiz super champion. But making him #1 pretender is bad enough.

I keep saying this, there should be just one world title per weight class... it would make things so much more simple, something like just the WBC... either way we only need and want one per weight class.
