WBA Continues To Hurt Boxing, Makes John "Super Champ"

The WBA continues to hurt the sport of boxing. With so many sanctioning organizations and title belts floating around, it has become very difficult, even for hardcore fans, to keep track of the champions in each respective weight division. Several years ago, the WBA did their best to further confuse fans by creating a "super title." According to the rules of the WBA, a boxer can only become a super champion if he was successful in unifying at least two major titles. The rule, as explained by the WBA, was supposed to give a unified champion breathing room to make mandatory defenses. [details]

This is indeed fairly ridiculous. Originally I didn't really have any more problem with this system than any of the other corrupt sanctioning bodies, but now there's no rhyme or reason to it whatsoever, it's even more blatantly a sanctioning free-grabbing fiasco.

The WBA has being doing a terrible job, especially in the heavyweight division, where thay've made John Ruiz AGAIN a mandatory without having him fight in an eliminator.

Why wouldn't they have Ruiz fight Dimitrenko in an eliminator? Would that make too much sense?

how many chances will Ruiz get??? the fact that ruiz is still a contender just tells you how weak this OverWeight division is.

The WBA is the worst thing for boxing. How can one of four organizations tarnish the sport so much? I'm not sure, but it's happening.

          **** the WBA.

No, there's a lot of good heavyweights in Europe. There's a lot of better fighters in Europe like Dimitrenko and *****ko who would easily beat Ruiz at this point.

It's because Don King still has the power to give his old, mediocre heavyweights like Ruiz underserved title shots.

I'm happy to remember that none of my favorite fighters have ever really identified with the WBA!

Morales - WBC mostly... WBO at 122 and IBF at 130 in addition for one fight each.

Wright - IBF mostly... picked up the WBA and WBC for 2 fights because of his unification with Mosley ONLY.

                Lopez - WBO

Dirrell - Highly ranked in both the IBF and WBO... but NOT the WBA.

More reasons for the WBA to eat a ****.
