Instead of just saying something more simple like, Williams is not a welter anymore. Have to make it so hard and hype up Clottey to be like a number 1 Welter. When Mosley is the current number 1 Welter and brings a *belt and money and a actual fanbase but Cotto decides to go with the money-making De La Clottey.
But Clottey IS ranked #4 right under Cotto.
He's hard as nails with only two losses. That Boldimir loss was a disqualification, and he took all of Marg's BEST shots despite the fact he injured his hand in round 9 of that fight.
Mosley refuses to fight in Cotto's backyard NY before the PR parade.
So Cotto's options were Berto, Cintron, and Clottey. He chose the toughest of the 3 opponents.
That's not good enough for some people. He needs to fight Williams on THEIR schedule, even though he intends on fighting ALL of the best.

Or because Arum still had the idea of matching him up with Margarito, his other big time WW? And Cotto said ok....Williams was no one to go out of your way to fight, it just wouldn't make business sense.
Stop being ******.

Yea that's why.
Earlier, he had a potential Floyd fight, a potential Oscar fight, and a Margarito fight.
