Williams beat Margarito had a belt. Very high ranking in the WW. Cotto didn’t fight him then, what makes you think he would have fought him had he beaten Carlos Q??

It's not like Cotto was fighting bums at the time (aside from Gomez which was months after Williams lost to Quintana). He fought Mosley, Williams fought Quintana. Cotto won, Williams lost. Unfortunate situation but that's how it turned out.

Well i'm not saying Cotto ducked Williams i'm just trying to figure out why are some Cotto fans trying to make Clottey out to be this new "Goldenboy" Joshua De La Clottey that he brings so much more to the table. Instead of just saying something more simple like, Williams is not a welter anymore. Have to make it so hard and hype up Clottey to be like a number 1 Welter. When Mosley is the current number 1 Welter and brings a *belt and money and a actual fanbase but Cotto decides to go with the money-making De La Clottey.

But Clottey IS ranked #4 right under Cotto.
He's hard as nails with only two losses. That Boldimir loss was a disqualification, and he took all of Marg's BEST shots despite the fact he injured his hand in round 9 of that fight.

So Cotto's options were Berto, Cintron, and Clottey. He chose the toughest of the 3 opponents.
