Also Floyd snr was a terrific fighter, if you haven't watched highlights of him, you should. Because he was technically a brilliant fighter, he just had major flaws like a severe lack of power.

He trained floyd everyday for 20 years, he deserves MAJOR credit for floyd jnr, and I think you got your facts wrong, floyd snr was training him as a pro and went to jail soon before jnr won the super feather world title. All trainers are different and some mix better with certain fighters...in the case of de la hoya he had a fighter who wasn't too compatible with this style in my opinion but its hard to say how much effect he had on oscar.

Guzman was majorly improved defensively under floyd snr, if you watch fights of guzman at feather he is basically a fast slugger, he is a much better fighter now and shoulder rolls pretty well, in terms of his weight and stuff im not sure what is going on there, and to be honest the trainer is partly responsible for a fighters weight, but in the end it is up to the fighter himself, maybe floyd snr didn't want to waste his time with Guzman.
Before that, Floyd Jr. had replaced his father as manager with rap guru James Prince. After that, he fired him as trainer ... yes, the man he cried for in 1996 while preparing for the Olympics when the young amateur said emotionally, "My dream is for my daddy to be here. ... I want to hug and kiss my dad."
Senior was in jail during 1996.
Mayweather fought his first professional bout on October 11, 1996 against fellow newcomer Roberto Apodaca. Apodaca was knocked out in round 2. Mayweather's trainer at the time was his uncle, Roger Mayweather, because Floyd Mayweather, Sr. was still imprisoned after having been convicted of illegal drug trafficking in 1993
so there is no way he trained Jr for 20 years straight. and even when Senior was training him, Roger was there the whole time. and Jr fired Senior...

Floyd Senior was a good fighter, but Roger was much better, even with his china chin.

Guzman did not change at all in the short time Senior trained him. he had that ability before training with Sr.

did they split? I didnt know that.
Dawson was with Burmingham or however you spell it before training with Sr.

Roger had the same kind of defence, and the fact that Sr says he invented that style is laughable.

yep, it will be interesting to see what he can do with Hatton

DLH, Dawson, Floyd Jr and Guzman are all very skilled fighters blessed with great natural gifts

Hatton doesn't have that and it would be a great accomplishment if Sr could devise a gameplan to have the limited Hatton walk out victorious on May 2nd

To be fair Roger himself said that he learned that type of defense from his brother Floyd.

The Mayweathers most certainly did not invent that style however.

yeah I think Mayweather is a good trainer especially with defense. but I think Chad is right when he said that Mayweather Sr tries to make himself more important than his fighters sometimes.
