Cotto bringing in more money then Mayweather??? It sounds like Arum doesnt want Mayweather to beat his best fighter. hes hiding Pacquaio like he did with Cotto in 2005 when Mayweather wanted to fight him. thats the biggest fight boxing can have and he doesnt think it will do 1 mil+ buys?? whats gonna be a bigger fight?? Arum sucks the fat oneComment

what? where the hell did i imply that? lets wait for the result of Pac and hatton first since floyd did fight hatton too, right. ?
Floyd and PAc both wouldnt do as good without hatton and Oscar.Comment

brently79 pointed out that Floyd wasn't **** in terms of sales without Oscar or Ricky.
I asked him if that was the case, what would he consider Pac without the two?
YOU then jumped in to say Pac's sales were Floyd-like. When I pointed out they certainly were not, now you want to talk about Hatton.Comment

I only speak for myself.........the reasons i give are written above. Which is fair imo.Comment

I think a lot of you guys are putting too much emphasis on Manny's size. Do some research on Henry Armstrong. The dude went back and forth from Featherweight and Welterweight and defended titles...IN THE 20s AND 30s. It may be out of the ordinary today to see a smaller guy fight a bigger guy (at least in the sense of 135-147). But in all honesty, it's not THAT big of a move up. Manny is a well conditioned athlete and proved he could perform at 147. People will jump on the bandwagon and make excuses for Oscar being weight drained, but then they'll totally ignore how fast Manny was, how he was cutting the ring off, how quick he moved around the ring and how hard he was hitting at that weight. I'm not saying Manny would win, but you'd be foolish to think he won't give Cotto or Floyd problems in a fight.
As far as Floyd's draw? It's still unproven to an extent. He's had two cash cows for dance partners and we have yet to see if he can be the main draw of the fight. His popularity is undeniable, but at the same time I think it's a bit exaggerated in the big scheme of things. Floyd bowed out just as he hit the mainstream, so a lot of that luster sorta disappeared. When Sugar Ray retired the 1st time, he had already had big monumental fights with Duran, Hearns, and Benitez. When he made his comeback against Hagler, it was a huge deal because a lot of people thought they'd never see Leonard fight again. With Floyd, it's been a waiting game because even his fans never believed he'd be retired for long anyway.
Floyd's in a position now to become that headlining fighter, but he has to take the toughest challenges along with the biggest money out there and I dont see any other fights for him that make the money a fight with Pac, Cotto, and Mosley would bring. He MUST fight at least two of those 3 (and I believe he will).Last edited by RL_GMA; 03-26-2009, 09:09 AM.Comment

I agree. Arum is really holding back his fighters for his own personal greed. Pacman and Mayweather will bring in a lot of views, any of these three matched against each other will. However, negotiations will be much more beneficial for him matching Pacman and Cotto since he won't have to split with another promoter and Cotto comes with a smaller price tag. Boxing is a business before a sport nowadays with the 'most important' battles ($$$$) going on behind the scenes.Cotto bringing in more money then Mayweather???
