yeah i get you. neither were looking to into it. the problem is that mayweather already has a rep of not fighting top level welterweights, which is a reality, so that's why everyone says that he's ducking cotto

i know he isn't, but he's plainly ducking every major welterweight. he has his reasons ($$$), but boxing's not supposed to be about that. he needs to beat top guys in his weight or his legacy won't be as big as it could've been

Cottos not scared of mayweather at all if hes not scared of margarito or clottey or mosley who punch way harder and are bigger than him why would he be scared of mayweather. He doesnt need to do that. He has never called any one out only now after he already got his first lost and the whole contraversy with him and arum is happening. You guys act like hes been calling people out hes not a big mouth like floyd hes classy he lets his promoters match him up against who they want

It seems like floyd is more obsessed with cotto than cotto with floyd. He said what he felt when they talked to him about floyd, but he didnt feel like he had to call him out.
          Cotto realizes what's at sake

Cotto realizes what's at sake, That's why he doesn't called FLoyd out....Because if he calls Floyd Out and loses... All of the burden is on him..

But if the fans called Floyd out for him and he loses..., Some of the burden will go on his fans for putting him in that Position...and demanding Cotto Fight Floyd...even though Cotto has never called him out..

That's why Cotto never calls anybody out because he doesn't want to accept responsibility if he loses...He wants to have the excuse that I fought who they put in front on me, and I lost...!!
So it's Bob Arums can take responsibility to some degree...

and that's pretty smart, because anyway it goes he doesn't completely loses. IF he wins he doesn't lose, and if he loses, it's not completely his fought because he never ask for that fight he just fought who they put in front of him..

So Now I understand why Cotto never calls people out

So Now I understand why Cotto never calls people out, it is because he knows the consequences of doing that.. And he seen How it affects people..

So I expect Cotto to never Called Floyd out, because He knows what would happen if he loses after he calls out Floyd...He understand the instant pressure he would put on himself...and he does not want that..AS WE CAN SEE

          Good GAME PLAN Cotto....

Sounds like Cotto doesn't get much of the blame on this one.
            Cotto never said that.........

Cotto ducked Floyd at 140 after seeing Gatti brutalized,,,,,,,he and Hatton were in attendance.

Top Rank and Bob Arum never made Floyd any offer...
and Floyd even went on ESPN saying "Id love to fight Miguel Cotto".

Yeah I won't argue that Cotto wasn't a good option for Floyd because he was. It was BEST welter fight that could have been made a the time and I wish it would have happened. I'm of the opinion that was the only real fight that needed to happen before Floyd retired. Margarito had not gained the credibility yet, so it was just Cotto. Now there is Pac and Mosley is fresh off of a big win so there are other guys available but at that time is was just Cotto. That is why I don't feel he ducked any of the welters before he bounced. Same token Cotto didn't duck Floyd, If Arum would have allowed it I'm sure he would have took a fight with Floyd earlier in his career.

Though I am a fan of Floyd my intentions are not to inflate his legacy either. I have wanted to see a Mayweather vs Cotto match-up for the longest. Its the fight that made the most sense at Welter when Floyd was still active. I was disappointed when the fight never came through but have to admit that it seems to me that people look at this fight as a means to criticize both fighters. I know the whole thing about Arum not wanting to match up Floyd and Cotto at 140. I also know the whole thing about Cotto stating him and Floyd were rivals working for the same company and when the time was right the fight would happen. I just don't get why people blame either fighter for the fight not happening. Many here seem to think Floyd is "ducking" Cotto. I could understand that more if Cotto gave the impression at any point in time that he was actually pursuing Floyd. Cotto is classy and does not call too many guys out. Floyd when asked about Cotto speaks negatively about him and down plays his relevance. As a Floyd fan I have seen him do this to guys he fully intends to fight so I take it with a grain of salt. He said Ricky Hatton was a fat man that wasn't on his level before Ricky called him out. The fight ended up happening despite what he said. This case was a bit different because it seems neither really was pursuing the other. Its a shame too because that is the fight that was supposed to happen prior to Mayweather retiring. Not Margarito/Clottey/Berto or even Mosley. Those fights are can happen now but at the time the fight to make was Mayweather vs Cotto. Maybe if Cotto leaves Top Rank the deal will be sweetened and the fight will be made but in the meantime people should stop making it seem like someone ducked the other.
Because Floyd has the bigger name.
