Who has a better Legacy??? Hopkins or Jones

a ton of Hopkins Title Defenses were before that age. While he was defending the IBF title to number 1 contenders, all the other fighters ducked him. He finally got his shot against Trinidad to show the World his skills. But if he fought all these fighters when he was 30-35, he'd whoop em.The thing that bothers me though, there is alot of attention put into Roy losses.
But I'm one who believes, you judge a fighter when they were in their primes. Is someone in their prime at 35? That when he started losing. Most fighters are not in their prime at 35. Most atheletes in general, are not in their primes at 35.
But Hopkins had his best fights from 36-43. So its hard to rate boxers...Comment

Exactly. And you can say the exact same thing about Tarver's preparation (or lack thereof) for Bernard.Comment

He was the fighter of the 90's by the Boxing writers association...Jones would not be 50 at all...when did you start watching boxing, man? You act like Jones had a three-year run or something. He was on top for so long we all got sick of him. At or near the pound for pound list for about 10 years....that's no joke man. Hopkins is just now getting around to 175. Jones beat the best at 160-168 in about a year.Comment

It's a catchweight. 175lbs is the limit for LHW. You can't be a 170lbs guy fighting at 175, it's not possible.
It's 2lbs north of Super Middleweight. And 4lbs north of where Kelly looked good against against Taylor in the rematch.
Peanuts, really.Comment

What's with all the name dropping and "what ifs". Joppy was wack. Winky beat Hopkins. Stick to the subject. Me personally, am not impressed with the 20 title defenses. Roy also has a *gold medal* and a victory over Hopkins.the only blown up WW he fought was Oscar. Trinidad was not over blown up. Trinidad knocked out Joppy, who was a real middleweight. If you take away Hopkins win over Trinidad, then take away Wrights win from him to, because that Winky Wrights best win, is over Trinidad.
And if Bernard Hopkins became Lineal champ at LHW and if he does at Cruiser, will that show he fought bigger men?
Hagler beat a Blown up welterweight in Hearns then, and a extremely blown up LW in Duran.Comment

To quote Roy, "That belt he broke the middleweight record with? I gave him that! I left that for him!"
Man, I wish Roy and Hops could've had some more verbal jousts. Remember when they went face to face, nose to nose in the ring in Miami, I think?Comment
