Just because one can fight longer? What about the guy that got there first?

MY defense on Roy over BHOP... aside from Tarver... every BIG NAME fighter had to move up to fight Bernard...

Where Roy had to move up to fight alll the fighters he fought...
good defense. You are right. Trinidad, Oscar, Winky, and Pavlik went up to fight B-Hop. But my defense is that in Trinidad and Pavliks fights that hopkins was the underdog. i'm not sure about the oscar and winky fights.

See Roy gets discredit for all his wins.. but Bernard is blessed?

Toney was drained... but TARVER WASNT? after weighing up to 220 months before their fight?

Winky and Pavlik... your talking about a JRMW and a MW... fighting two weight classes above what they ever fought...

Im not ****ting on bernard... he has a phenomenal legacy and I look at it pretty closely to Roys... but Bernard has his own "yeah but"'s on a lot of his big name wins

Furthermore, it wasn't as if Jones' dominance was brief - he ran the sport for about a good ten years. I rate Roy higher but Hops is not finished. Either way, they're both ATG's. However, I think these kind of threads should have some guidelines. Like - were you following boxing in the 90's? And not 1999 either.
I've been following it since '95 and I still think Bernard has the better Legacy.

But I wouldn't place him no more than maybe 5 spots above Roy on my list.

        But that's me.

Who cares about their legacys? Jones would of beat Hopkins 10 times out of 10 in their primes. UD 117-111 everytime.

I've never bought into the "Toney was drained" ****. Whether he was, or wasn't, Roy would've beaten his ass any day of the week, regardless.

            That's my favorite Roy fight.

We disagree but you get no argument from me, Bringer. Both Roy and Hops are a pleasure.

The thing that bothers me though, there is alot of attention put into Roy losses.

But I'm one who believes, you judge a fighter when they were in their primes. Is someone in their prime at 35? That when he started losing. Most fighters are not in their prime at 35. Most atheletes in general, are not in their primes at 35.

But Hopkins had his best fights from 36-43. So its hard to rate boxers...

I agree. Jones' resume is sick. SICK. To hear people derail it now while lauding others makes me scratch my head.

Music is different then Boxing. if we compare boxing, Hopkins would be Nas in a way, because he is always on top, but not always number 1. he is always top 5. And Jones is 50 cent. Was at the top, then got knocked out(BY GAME) but is trying to resurrect his career (Sheik, Rick Ross)

but they are both ATG's, but resume to resume, are you saying Jones is better then Hopkins?
