FACTS ARE FACTS. cant change facts .

    like Michael Herron once wrote:

When you look pass the money, Mayweather and even the former P4P king Roy Jones are actually truer to pure boxing than most big names in the sport.

These two fighters are actually marketed for their skill set,not their personalities.

De La Hoya on the other hand, sells his Pay-Per-Views based on personality and charm alone, not boxing ability.

Is this why we watch boxing, to see personalities joust or skills clash?

When you pay to see Floyd, the expectation is that you will see the best skills in boxing. When you pay to see Oscar, there are no expectations,

he could win or lose with no penalty.

If Mayweather or Jones lose a fight, they lose everything.

They are burdened with having to be perfect. The repercussions of Jones' losses to Tarver and Johnson is the perfect example of why Mayweather knows he can't lose. If he were to be defeated, proponents and detractors in this “unforgiving sport” would attempt to destroy everything he has fought for.

Mayweather knowing this STILL moved up 5 weight classes giving up all physical advantages to prove he was great therefore risking everything he has work for .. just to achive greatness...
Underrated poster, always nothing but the butt naked facts.

I guaruntee Floyd's next PPV will do 1 million+ buys. And people have the audacity to say he's not a draw? He's boxing's biggest draw right now, and he's retired.

but wasn't Floyd Mayweather's claim to fame being the #1 Pound For Pound Fighter in the sport?

sure the bold might be dead on accurate

however I would think Mayweather's standing as a fighter would be a major selling point

as regardless how much the casual fans actually know about the sport

Im pretty sure Pound For Pound #1 is one of the first things that come to mind when talking about Mayweather Jr.

regarding DLH first thing to come to mind (mine at least) is just how popular he is.

but the casual fan knows that the fight they are about to buy is suppose to showcase something...

When the casual fan brought tyson fights...
They brought because they heard that he was a Ko's Artist who was a fuccking menace and could do anything in the ring including bite somebody ear off..

When the casual fans brought the De la hoya fights..
They brought it because they heard he was boxing golden boy and the mexican SRL...

So when the casual fan buys a Floyd Fight, they are buying it because they heard Floyd was the best in the world p4p. !!!

That what marketing your skillset means.

Casual fans buying your fights because they heard your skills was the best!!

Do you honestly think Floyd's popularity, and star status in 2005 is even 10% of what it is now? You must be legally ******ed.

Floyd owns 2 of the top 3 richest / biggest fights in boxing history.

haha this is a big load of bull**** wrapped in gold linning...and I actually read this one.

Floyd Mayweather is not the Draw.

He's the Protaganist...People want him to lose and thats the role he plays.
Thats how the fights are marketed thats the persona he carries with him.

The average person who buys a paperView knows **** about boxing skill...He just needs an excuse to have some friends over and drink a couple beers...and all he knows is what he's seen on late night re runs of 24/7...he knows he doesnt like the loud mouth and he likes the hard worker that sounds like a cool person to have a couple beers with.

Talk about people that need to get a grip on reality...breath.

Perhaps you need to look up the definition of "draw".

It means to ATTRACT people, whether they're cheering for you or not, whether they like you or not, is absolutely irrelevant.

10 people paying to see you lose, is worth just as much as 10 people paying to see you win.

What is it about the concept of a "draw" don't you understand?

2 paticipants in a boxing match...

1 is the Draw...Floyd is usally on the other side of that....Not always but when he has been on the BIG stage He's not the DRAW...

People come to see the Hero the good guy...and thats how Boxing is marketed to the mainstream...to say that 300 thousand plus households bars and the likes ordered the payper view to see supreme boxing mastery at it's best is...umm Delusional...thats a good word.

You know as in...I won't fight SoandSo he's not a draw...It's a lose lose for me...I wouldn't waste me time with that NO NAME.
You know exactly what i'm trying to say we can argue on the language all night...but you get my point.

How does views on a website translate to ppvs again? Half the people on here dont even like the guy and a lot (like me) wouldnt buy another one of his ppvs after that pathetic de la hoya one.
