If movies like Titanic, Spider Man 3, some of the Star Wars flicks are on the top-grossing movies of all time lists (I'm assuming they are), that doesn't mean they're automatically great or even good movies.

I mean, it would appear to me this whole discussion is a popularity contest. Marciano fans and SRR fans probably argued about a lot of stuff, but who sold more tickets? Maybe, but probably not.

I was the person in my group of casual fan friends who suggested having a party to watch DLH vs. Mayweather. A lot of them had heard about the fight already. Right after the fight, which was popularly described as "****" amongst the 20 people gathered, a few of my friends made it a point to tell me (and only me) they thought the fight ******. I wish I would have known the PPV numbers so I could have told them, "Yeah, but it sold over a million pay-per-views." I'm sure they would have seen the fight differently then.
First of all, I don't recall ever stating (or anyone else for that matter) that there was a direct correlation between the quality of the fight or fighter and the number of PPV's purchased. Wow, that came out of left field.

Secondly, It's not that it's important to me personally, I just find the discussion interesting, god forbid.

If you're going to have that attitude, then why discuss ANYTHING that doesn't have a direct impact on you personally? Forget discussing who's going to win the Superbowl or the World Series, after all, I'm not going to be the one hoisting the trophy.

    Yeah, I love your logic!

And you're delusional thinking Floyd's EXCITING style/character can bring in a ****load of PPVs lol. I understand you love the guy, but you need to come back to earth.

        Agree to disagree.

All you've done is provided circular arguments and tried to apply logic that is blatant fallacy.

When the fight is announced, we'll determine the numbers and make our bet. We'll leave it at that.

floyd is just **** riding his opponents fans. this is also one of the reasons why he retired. when he fought baldo he knew he couldn't draw. even his own fans left the building even before the fight ended. then he fought dela hoya who brought the fans, then hatton who brought fans from england. if u think floyd brings fans then u are one fuucked up floyd **********.

And you've completely missed the entire basis of the argument, good job.

FACTS ARE FACTS. cant change facts .

                like Michael Herron once wrote:

When you look pass the money, Mayweather and even the former P4P king Roy Jones are actually truer to pure boxing than most big names in the sport.

These two fighters are actually marketed for their skill set,not their personalities.

De La Hoya on the other hand, sells his Pay-Per-Views based on personality and charm alone, not boxing ability.

Is this why we watch boxing, to see personalities joust or skills clash?

When you pay to see Floyd, the expectation is that you will see the best skills in boxing. When you pay to see Oscar, there are no expectations,

he could win or lose with no penalty.

If Mayweather or Jones lose a fight, they lose everything.

They are burdened with having to be perfect. The repercussions of Jones' losses to Tarver and Johnson is the perfect example of why Mayweather knows he can't lose. If he were to be defeated, proponents and detractors in this “unforgiving sport” would attempt to destroy everything he has fought for.

Mayweather knowing this STILL moved up 5 weight classes giving up all physical advantages to prove he was great therefore risking everything he has work for .. just to achive greatness...
                Needs Floyd it seems now..
