Quintana spent the year not fighting at all after his Williams KO and then when he made his comeback it was at 154 on December 5th.

Floyd signed to fight JMM for July 19th. Quintana scratch him off the list.

Berto is managed by Haymon. Scratch him off the list.

Kermit spent all of 2009 at 154 pounds. He also wasnt available.
You're saying that none of these guys (sides Berto) would move down to 147 and fight Mayweather if they had been offered?

You take off Cintron and Quintana just cause they fight at 154, but they CAN make it to 147 if they wanted to. Especially for a high profile fight with Mayweather.

Still, the Mayweather camp didn't even try to find an opponent in his own weight class or even in the Jr. WW class. A guy fighting at 140 has a much easier time making 147 than a guy who's fought at 126-130 for most of his career.

That's why I'm disappointed. No effort from the Mayweather camp to find a legitimate tune up instead of just another name.

You're right. JMM was a hot name who was coming off 2 KO wins. They both are GBP. It made sense. It was a tune up nothing more. Tune ups are suppose to have a chance. When Oscar fought Forbes at 150 I didnt see one thread made.

Which was why Marquez was not a legitimate tune up. The man had no chance.

The reason why people didn't complain when Oscar fought Forbes was because at the time, Oscar was not even on the P4P lists.

Mayweather Top 3 P4P yet chose to fight a guy 2 weight divisions below him. Marquez was also Top 5 P4P at the time, but that's like having Tyson fight RJJ just cause they were both top tier P4P fighters at the time.

I meant to say Tune ups ARENT suppose to have a chance.

Are we comparing JMM-Floyd to RJJ-Tyson really man?

Why isnt Floyd allowed an easy fight to shake off ring rust after a 2 year layoff?

Why not? I wanted to kill the "they were both P4P fighters" excuse before it came up.

Also, I never said Floyd wasn't "allowed" to take a tune-up fight, just as a boxing fan I felt that he should've fought someone in his own weight class.

I don't think fighting top P4P fighters should be considered tune-ups to anybody, but unfortunately because of the size differences between Marquez and Floyd that's what it turned out to be.

            Hence why I was disappointed.
