We had this discussion in several different threads.
I'd be with Kellerman, except the tone of his statement isnt a good one. Like he is trying to say something bad about Vazquez, but knows he will get nailed if he comes out and says it, so he qualifies it 1000 different ways and is satisified to just have the conotation of the word "quit" to do his dirty work. Something just doesn't sound right about it, and I cant put into words how its not right just that it isn't.

I think he' correct in putting the word in the right context. Sure he quit by definition, but he went through more pain than most of us or any other boxer would have gone through. I dont agree with him saying that it truly defines greatness not to quit though. Some great boxers dont even find themselves in that situation., their face mangled, their body broken down. Even SRR quit by definition. Now he could have died in the ring...

He did quit. Whats the problem?
The entire place felt let down after the fight, and some people were truly pissed that he did. Many were highly enjoying the great action and felt cheated,
until they saw the interview on the screens on the way out and you could see his face blowing up by the second.

Just Fear
I think that what Max wants to say is that it's time to fight.I think what happens is that you are afraid to Juanma Lopez and does not want to fight like Rafael already informed us that no interest is cowardly Juanma time struggling with the terror of the Mexican and the best 122 lb, and if they do not agree to fight just call him quitter.

I think also people for get about that fight that Vazquez was coming on in that fight. Marquez was ahead due to the earlier rounds but Vazquez was turning the momentum. He even won the last round that he stopped. Don't forget that. Re watch the fight.

'I'm not saying it was a bad decision or that he shouldn't have quit. But what we demand of fighters in order to say that they're truly great is that they don't quit in those circumstances. And he did. Now, Vazquez came back and won two incredible fights against Marquez, and if you want to call him a great fighter, I'm not going to argue with you, reallu. But he quit.'
This was for a feature about how he'd do against Wilfredo Gomez.
