But Barrera comparing Hamed with Khan is silly - not only do they have totally different styles, but Hamed is 5'4"; Khan is 5'10".
Dave, I'm sorry man, but I thought he was crap. He was useless against anyone good. Barrera proved that. You don't lose your talent overnight like that. MAB made him look amateur. And man, the Manuel Calvo fight was straight up embarrassing, shouting to the crowd "who gives a **** about the crowd" and "breaking 'em up!", plus adopting a fake American accent when talking to his trainer? Sorry man, the guy is a tool. Anyone can look good sparking out below-average fighters, and that's all he was good at.

Hamed wasn't hurt once? Man, I couldn't disagree more. He was hurt multiple times. Watch when Barrera lands a good shot. Hamed crapped himself and often started backpeddling, staying away from Marco until he could recover. All he could do is start pulling faces at Barrera. What a knob jockey.

And it was a farcical corner, with different cornermen giving contradictory instructions.

Hamed had already started to decline well before the Kelley fight - Kelley could never have hit Hamed flush before Hamed fell in love with his power and started to neglect his boxing skills.

I agree the pre-decline Hamed would have been a completely different fighter against Barrera, and far more competitive. Whether he'd have won is hard to say, as Barrera is an ATG fighter, but it would certainly have been a very different and much more competitive fight.
I dissagree Hamed was in decline pre Barrera more a case that his competition was stiffer, you say as many people do that we would have seen a very different fight and maybe a different result had a more focused, disciplined Hamed turned up, firstly do you really think Hamed would have come in undertrained and indifferent for Barrera? This was by far Hameds biggest fight. Secondly watch Barrera in that fight, i honestly cant remember him fighting at such a slow and controled pace. So if a much more fired up Hamed had turned up then as we know in the Morales, Mcinney and many other fights Barrera had several gears he could have moved up to, indeed when Barrera did step it up in rounds 10-11 Hamed was in all kinds of bother.

At the end of the day Barrera (at the time) was a good couple of levels above what Hamed had fought before

Barrera may have had the experience but he's very much a spent force. And if Khan is working with Roach and Pacquiao, he learns about speed and footwork. All this kid's got to do is to tire the old Mexican out. The only way Barrera can win is by using those shameful dirty tactics that already had become his trademark.

You must mean rounds 11 and 12, because Hamed won round 10, if I remember correct. I believe Barrera was taking a round off.

I agree with you, though. Hamed wasn't slipping, that's just a poor excuse. It's just Barrera who made it look that way. These guys are leagues apart in terms of talent. And to think barrera beat him with only boxing basics. It just shows you how ineffective Hamed's unorthodox style really was.

Barrera's trademark is dirty tactics? WTF?

Yeah, that should do the trick!

Last time I saw it I was instantly depressed again because I watched the Manuel Calvo fight straight after.
