Maybe if Khan wins it means he is the better fighter at this point in time?

Im not silly, Barrera is not the fighter he was in his prime, but he isn't totally past it. If Khan wins he deserves some respect, and maybe a world title shot.

Well, basically it's true, Timba. Khan is banking on Barrera not being up to the standard he once was. MAB's last two fights mean nothing. In fact it kinda reminds me of Roy Jones -- fight a couple of average opponents and work your way back up to a big fight, only Barrera's opponents were completely terrible. The last guy he fought was 1-7, FFS! These fights are nothing to go on and MAB deserves no credit for beatin a guy with 6 times more losses than he has wins. If MAB was coming off a couple of quality wins, it'd be different.

He won by a 4th round KO, and won his last fight on cuts. He couldn't have been very motivated fighting bums. I would judge him on his last meaningful fight when he took Pacquaio the distance less than a year and a half ago. He has more left in the tank than De La Hoya, or Diaz. But I guess some people will never give credit where credits due. This will be a great win for Khan if he indeed wins.

Yes, I know he KO'd Ventura in the 4th, I've got the fight right here. But who is Ventura?

Oscar pushed Mayweather (P4P #1, remember) to a split decision a little more than a year and a half ago, yet you say Barrera has more in the tank than Oscar? Then Oscar won a wide UD against Forbes. Sure, Oscar wasn't at his best, but reconsider that he pushed Mayweather, supposedly the best fighter on the planet at the time, to a split decision.

Sorry man, I would find it hard to give Khan a great deal of credit for beating an ancient Barrera. It'd be a semi-meaningless win, like Jones was to Calzaghe. The only thing Amir wants Marco for is because of the name.

I agree, Marco could pull off one great performance though history would prove otherwise, Chavez was the same age as Marco when Tzsyu battered him, granted Tzsyu is a touch better than Khan

I will give Khan lots of credit if he beats Barrera, and if he can win another meaningful fight after, he should be in world title contention.

Cool man. I don't think the rest of the world will give Khan lots of credit. That's just how it goes. Khan's people are trying to catapult his name back into the limelight after being ruined by Prescott. They better hope Barrera is done.

I'll give the man credit simply for not getting knocked out...

Beating barrera would be big tings but he aint the Barrera from back in the days but he still gets cred though....

I don't think De La Hoya would have looked nearly as bad at 154 as he did at 147; and in any case most people do give Pac a lot of credit for the way he beat De La Hoya. And Barrera looks fitter and more motivated in the videos I've seen than he has since the Marquez fight; and Barrera is younger than Marquez.

If Barrera runs out of gas against Khan and looks really awful, that's one thing. But if he looks like he came to fight and doesn't run out of gas, and if Khan manages to box him from the outside and win a UD, then I think that will be a major achievement. It shouldn't be blown up out of proportion, and no one should pretend that means he's ready for the likes of Marquez, Funeka or Juan Diaz, but I think to go to the opposite extreme and claim that Barrera was not a major test for him, is just as bad.

Beating a fighter as skilled as Barrera would be a tremendous learning fight, the first proper learning fight Khan has had. It's not just a name.

Another point about those two is that Warren and Hennessey hate each other, that's probably the real reason those fights haven't happened. Warren has been talking about making a Khan-Alex Arthur fight, though. And everyone thought Earl was going to be a genuine test, after his performance against Katsidis, although Earl bottled it on the night, unfortunately.
