Mayweather vs. Marquez: Juan Seriously After Floyd

What is the sense of fighting Marquez when there is Mosley, Cotto and/or Pacquiao?
They are the same height. Mayweather would outweigh JMM by 7 pounds. Buts it's ok for 5'11 160 pounds Williams and Margarito wanting to fight Mayweather

Here's my UNBIAS opinion
Miguel Cotto is definitely a strong fighter & can turn up the heat in the ring on a boxer that cannot match his pressure & power but against someone that he cannot intimidate then he has a problem. I see a Cotto/Mayweather fight as simple as this, Cotto could come out & try to out box Floyd like he did Mosley to some degree but WE all know that Cotto cannot match Floyd's skills as a ring technician & doesn't have the mental to adapt properly in a
pressuring situation. Cotto could pressure Floyd and bring the fight to him but I think Floyd is used to pressure by now and fights very good & accurate on the inside.
Cotto definitely trumps Floyd in the power department but he doesn't put emphasis on defense & Floyd is just too accurate for Cotto to go in charging with his head down. No other fighter slips punches & has defense like Floyd in the sport. People cannot really compare De La Hoya to Cotto in regards to how Floyd would fight because Oscar was fighting comfortable at 154 & is 5'11" Floyd moved up and I think on fight night he was only 148 & Oscar was 160. Cotto & Floyd are basically the same height. Cotto is 5'7" & Floyd is 5'8" Floyd has him by an inch & is in better condition to go 12rds and gets better doing it.
I think Cotto has a punchers chance but if you look at everything in a whole, Cotto is not as skilled as PBF & in order to beat Floyd you have to out think him & after watching Cotto/Margarito I just don't feel Cotto is tactical enough to make Floyd fight his fight or smart enough to throw Floyd off of his game. I don't say this because I'm a PBF fan I say this because I just can't see Cotto beating PBF, but hey that's just how I feel but I would have LOVED to see them fight. Wish Cotto beat Marg then De La Hoya and became P4P#1, then I'm sure that fight would have been possible.Last edited by GRUSTLER; 03-07-2009, 04:06 AM.

It is good to hear claims of a possible fight against "Money" PBF and promoters should take this for the good of boxing, but should not go to the point of actually getting the fight happen. In this way, boxing is alive - there is always a possible good bout in the future. P4P title might change from Manny to somebody else, but it is OK. When "Money" was the P4P best, news about death of boxing is always included in almost every news analysis.
