Just a side note. I see these all time lists from time to time, and more often than not I see Roberto duran at about the number 9 spot above Hearns, Hagler, and Sugar Ray. Haaaa. All these guys beat him and Hearns killed him. And I know he wasn't at his best when he got beat by hearns but, he was still 3 younger than Roy was when Roy won a Heavy weight Title. Now there is no way Duran is better than Roy Jones Jr. Roy was so much better its not even funny. Roy would of annilalated him. Roy is bigger and they never could of fought but The difference between Roy and No mas is a couple 1000 miles. When peeps put Duran in top 10 it makes it so easy for me to put Roy in top 3.
Prime Roy easily beats, hagler, hearns, Duran, and sugar Ray leonard.
I gotta put him in top 3. Noone from 160-175 could have ever beaten a prime Roy Jones.

He was the first former middleweight champion to win a heavyweight title since Bob Fitzsimmons.
Many heavyweight champions were former middleweights, such as Tommy Burns, Ezzard Charles, Floyd Patterson, Jimmy Ellis...
Hey I feel ya, but still those were like 50 years ago. And more importantly they fought when the heavy weight division was lighter. Remeber 175 lb Rocky Marciano was a heavy weight champ in those days. Way different man. In this modern era its alot more impressive and unbelievable. And thats still not alot of people. And Roy was actually a true 160lber.

Chris Byrd used to fight at 160 lbs and under as an amateur (at the same age as RJJ fought as a middleweight in the pros). Ruiz started as a light heavyweight.
"Champions" like Ruiz are slower and sloppier than the past heavyweight greats and he isn't exactly a big heavyweight either which is why Roy Jones and James Toney were able to easily outbox him.
Not that it wasn't a good win for Jones but I don't see it as the huge achievement that some people do. Beating a Klitschko or Lennox Lewis, now that would've been earth-shattering but obviously not possible due to the difference in size.
