Marquez is my p4p number 1

Marquez is my p4p number 1.

I believe Marquez beat Pacquiao 1st time. Manny probably did enough to win the 2nd fight, but i think Marquez won the 1st.

I rate his wins over Casamayor,Juan Diaz over David Diaz and weight drained DLH. Collazo,Quintana, infact any top 10 147lbs would of beaten DLH that night. David Diaz got a beat down at the hands of Kendall Holt at 140lbs.

    Both have victorys over Barrera.

Juan Manuel Marquez beat Norwood imo.

Yep. We've heard it before. All JMM's losses were robberies.

JMM did beat Norwood though imo.

Why am i saying that Pacquiao won the 2nd fight then, if im trying to make excuses for JMM.

So even though Pac beat JMM, JMM is your #1 p4p based on the fights after JMM's loss?

The only reason I give Marquez a razor thin edge on P4P status is the fact that when he stepped up LW he fought better opposition and his most recent win was against a young fighter in his prime who will likely run the division once Marquez vacates his titles. I take nothing away from Pacquiao. We could say that both fighters debut at LW was against lesser quality opposition but a Marquez KO over a prime fighter vs a Pacquiao TKO over a weight drained older fighter (I'm really not taking anything from Pacquiao because it was a masterful performance) just weigh's that slight bit more on the scale for me. Again, razor thin edge for Marquez in the P4P rankings.

I can see why Marquez would be considered number 1 pound for pound by some but I can't really place him in front of Pacquiao considering Pacquiao just beat him last year. Marquez is the more skilled fighter of the two but he did lose to Pacquiao, Pacquiao doesn't deserve to get dropped from number 1.

Well i believe JMM has a win over him so yeah. Getting the judges decision and winning the fight are two different things, in my eyes at least.

Yeah true. I think Pacman won both fights, but it was extremely close and could understand other people scoring either fights in Marquez's favour.

I'd rate Marquez last two fights much more than Pacman's as well.

I've said before that I don't like the P4P list because it doesn't really mean anything and only provokes arguments. I think both Pacman and Marquez should be considered the best fighters in the world. You can't really make a convincing argument that one of them is definately above the other.

when you consider the best fighter on the planet you have to consider everything.
                    pac has beaten barrera~2 morales~2 marquez~1 (close) delahoya~1
pac has fought from flyweight to welterweight that is a 10 division gap.
now how does marquez go ahead of pac after beating casamayor and diaz?
people need to stop getting carried away. good victory but no way does he become number one.
