Miranda stepped-up and Kessler ran back to Europe to fight another bum they pulled from the audience.

I had hopes that Kessler would start stepping it up after his fighting with Joe Calzaghe in 2007, but since then Kessler has continued fighting soft opponents and failed to step it up against a quality fighter like IBF light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson.
This has been pointing out multiple times already.

This is true... I honestly dont think it is so much Kessler running, it is about his promoter ****ing up his career. If he was with someone like Sauerland, the man would be in a much better position.

I just like to call him a chicken and say his was running cause it gets on my boy Bat's nerves! Love ya man!

You don't believe Kessler had fans before he fought Calzaghe or something? Go find the threads from around the time they fought, plenty of people picked Kessler over Calzaghe.

We've been through this so many times it's unbelieveable.

I'll give it a go as unbiased as possible:

There was not one but 2 separate negotiations between Warriors (Miranda) and Palle (Kessler), At first Showtime was to televise statesside. That deal was rejected by Palle attourney Michael Marley who says that Warriors reneged on how Kessler's purse was to be paid.

The second time it was on HBO. All the terms for the fight including holding the bout at the Seminole Tribe Hard Rock Casino in Florida. In other words, Kessler accepted fighting in Miranda's home ring. As it turns out Warriors had simultaneously negotiated a rematch with Arthur Abraham (Sauerland) and prefered that option and ditced Kessler accordingly.

Now I make a quotation from Michael Marley just to get some kick-back on my man pantera2000:

"Kessler's acceptance was done in writing and sent to HBO officials and to [promoters] Leon Margules and Lou DiBella... It was Miranda's guy, Mr. Margules, who stabbed HBO in the back, ducking out to fight Abraham. He was double dealing HBO. HBO was pissed but they couldn't do anything about it."

Kessler has actually fought a very competition up to the calzaghe fight, The problem he has with his promoter is definitely having a bad effect on his resume.

kess himself seems like a polite guy and keeps on calling out big names but maybe he should down the hayemaker route and discredit his opponent, it worked for haye against vlad.

kess has called out the likes of winky, hopkins, dawson, johnson, taylor and calzaghe. some of those fights haven't been made because of weight issues (dawson) other times its the money being offered (johnson) and sometimes fighters just dont want anything to do with a well skilled, talented, powerful euro fighter (hopkins).

SMW is a division that is red hot right now and with the likes of artur abraham and maybe pavlik going up its only going to get better. i can see why kess is delaying the move to LHW, he wants to secure the big fights at SMW and establish himself as calzaghes heir apparent.

its harder on euro fighters in general to break into the market - look at guys like AA and kessler, they should be fighting the likes of pavlik or bute/hopkins. calzaghe spent the best part of 4 years chasing up hopkins, tarver and RJJ. every now and again you get fighters like haye and hatton who manage it but most good euros are relying on fighters like johnson who aren't afraid of taking riskier fights to secure big fights.

euro fighters need a belt if they are to be recognised in the american market, otherwise they are just seen as a bum and can be avoided but if they have a belt then sooner or later unification and the big fights will follow. however holding a belt comes with its own problems, namely in the shape of no name mandatories that tae up time, effort and are generally not worthy of competing with a good champ (pedormo, sartison, haussler etc)
