    Diaz couldve won last night

He really could have. I was actually surprised how cleanly Diaz was able to hit Marquez at times, much more than I expected. but if he had changed up what he did just a tiny bit, he could have walked away with a win. if Diaz could have pushed Marquez back to the ropes with his jab and then fought in spurts, going in and out with combinations and stuck with it, he would not only have avoided the knockout but would have won a clear unanimous decision. he did that at times during the fight and was very sucessful, he shouldve been more discplined about that.

but in the end, Marquez ate him up with those uppercuts and right hands. most the time when they traded in the center of the ring, Marquez got the better of it, but against the ropes it was a whole different story. thats what all that experience will do for ya.

    ah well, great fight.

Diaz couldn't adjust to Marquez' adjustments, Diaz was doing really well through 5 rounds but then Marquez started to spin off the ropes better, he neutralized Diaz' workrate with a little more movement and made Diaz cautious because of his uppercuts and counter shots. Diaz didn't seem to handle the cut well at all, he looked kind of scared when he got cut, like he was very worried that the cut would get worse and got overprotective of it, same thing happened in the Campbell fight, his corner seemed to realize this too because I heard Shields tell him to not worry about that cut in between rounds.

Edit: And the body shots Marquez was landing on him took their toll too, he landed some really good body shots to slow Diaz down.

The reason Diaz was able to hit Marquez so cleanly so many of the time he did, was because Marquez was exchanging with him, rather than run away and make it a boring fight. He wanted to prove he could beat Diaz, fighting Diaz's fight, and he did just that.

But I agree, great fight. I had a post-fight high that lasted even throughout my sleep. I woke up this afternoon still pumped.

his activity gave that illusion. marquez was landing really really good counter punches throughout the entire fight, they just didnt appear to have that much effect when they really did. there were times when diaz would just stand infront of marquez, not doing **** - wary of getting tagged by juan's laser beam punches.

In my opinion he was figured out by the better fighter.

Perhaps if Diaz had more punching power he could have won the fight by KO before Marquez was able to adjust to his style. He landed a lot of punches throughout the fight but he couldn't put Marquez away.

i see you actually watched the fight......diaz got the all the "oooohs" and "aaaahhhs" cuz he was fighting at home, and he did better the first 2 rounds, but after that, i too saw marquez landing the cleaner shots.

Diaz was actually having a pretty good round in the round he got knocked out in...before he got rocked, of course. so to a degree, he was able to make some adjustments.

but its pretty clear that Marquez had way more experience, and its pretty much what won him the fight. very crafty.

its still pretty surprising how much effect Diaz's shots had on Marquez, imo. I didnt expect it. if only he had more power...

the problem with some of you people when you watch fights is you aren't seeing the untold damage being done. Marquez was investing in body work and it was taking the life out of Juan Diaz who was flashier. It's the same reason people couldn't understand how Miguel Cotto who was owning Margarito suddenly fell apart, Margarito invested in the body early whereas Cotto didn't at all. Same reason why Margarito finally fell apart against Mosley because Mosley was rocking his body from the get go.

Yeah after watching the fight, I was surprised how well he was doing the early rounds. JMM, as the better, more experienced fighter, adjusted himself accordingly to take the baby bull down.
