i have no problem with old skool greats getting too much credit... old skool fighters occupy the highest positions and rankings of the most reputable boxing trainers, historians, writers and enthusiasts' ATG lists... if they believe unanimously that these are the fighters that are up there in the stratosphere of our favorite sport's greatest ever practitioners, so be it...
i still like the present crop of fighters more though... i can relate with them more...Comment

Put the crack pipe down for a minute.
If Mayweather told you that you should get a sex change would you believe him? You just seem to believe all that bull**** that he spins.Comment

Fantastic post.OK. Well, to answer your question, I think many (not all) of the younger generation of boxing fans probably don't give enough credit to the old-school fighters and are slightly blinded by hype. They are convinced that, when Floyd Mayweather tells them he is 'the greatest who ever lived', he is correct. They adore his flashy persona, the way he throws money around, his "hip hop" or "street" image, etc., and they want to be just like him. They relate to his persona, and the marketing worked perfectly. I will include you here, as your posts come across as having being written by a youngster, possibly in his teens.
Those of us who have followed the sport for a while longer and/or more in-depth tend to recognize why these old-school fighters are fully deserving of their status as "All Time Greats", and having studied the sport for several decades, we hold their achievements in high regard. These are the fighters who current fighters need to live up to. Unfortunately, most of them don't come all that close. Myself, I have been a keen boxing fan since first watching Muhammad Ali in the late 70's when I was a very young kid.
I hope this goes some way to answering your question as to whether or not I give the old-school fighters too much credit. Obviously, I cannot speak for everyone here, but hopefully I speak for some. Also, I recognize Floyd Mayweather's skills. He is/was a very smart fighter, but his achievements do not compare well to those of greats such as Sugar Ray Robinson, who I consider the greatest fighter of all time, and his brash, immature personality leaves something to be desired.Comment

Wow that footage is amazing, I've never seen that before. The SRR stuff I have is all at middleweight. Excellent find!
