Your living in the past if you think Floyd can not do big PPV business. Floyd has 5 PPV that have all made a profit and he is not a big PPV star, yet Hatton is a huge PPV star and he only has 1 PPV (until May 2nd) fight and that is against Floyd.

Floyd is one of the biggest and most marketable names in boxing (still), if you can not even say that about him there is not point in going on talking to you.

It does not matter wheather people hate you or love you aslong as they are not silent about you, and there ain't nobody silent on Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Marketable? When the **** did Suger Ray Leonard and Oscar De la Hoya(Two of the most popular fighters of the last 3 decades) have to actually retire from boxing to make themselves more marketable? When did they have to use gimmicks like dancing with the stars and WWE? Seriously where do you people come up with this stuff?

moral of the story is......floyd can come out of retirement and fight just about anybody, from cotto to shane to dlh to pacman, and do big numbers.

none of those guys can fight each other, and make it a bigger fight than it would be w/ him instead. pay the man.

He would actually have to step into the ring to prove that theory especially against Cotto and Mosely who are average PPV draws at best.

His next two fights were against PPV darlings who needed to prove somthing to themselves.

But I think you are looking at this the wrong way becasue it wasn't Floyds Popularity that made him that money it was his skill.

He fought two very popular fighters that needed a major challange at that point of their career and it made for great drama if you ask me.

his next two fights were against dlh and hatton, and he played the "villain" role in both those fights........you're right it was his skill, but it was also his marketability too...

the gatti fight put him on the map, but it was a combo of the dancing w/ the stars, wrestlemania, and the dlh fight that catipulted him to another level, and in turn introduced him to a whole audience of ppl that probably didn't know who the hell he was......

bottom line, is he still not the most skilled fighter on the planet? is he not the most marketable fighter behind dlh? so pay the man.

8 million is ridiculous for a shane or a pacman fight. they'll adjust the numbers if they really want him, cuz neither shane nor pacman will make nearly as much money fighting anybody else as they would mayweather.......that's why they keep bringing his name up.

That ain't true, alot of people know who Mayweather is and I'll admit it is due to him facing DLH/ Hatton. Some just don't care for him because they just don't like his style of fighting

i never said that 8mil was a respectable offer. I agree that he deserves more. Guaranteed $12mil with ppv revenue is what i feel is fair. In no way does he deserve a guaranteed $20mil though.

i think cotto and shane should fight each other, winner fights floyd, and the fight will do close to a million buys......

if pacman beats hatton, pacman-floyd does well over a million buys.

i think 20 million guaranteed is a bit much, but somewhere around 15 million for either fight is right on the money.
