The Baldo fight killed any PPV crediability Floyd may have slightly generated.

Didn't you hear the OHHHH!!!! everytime Floyd landed the right or the uppercut?
ugh when the arena was half empty or when Lampley and Merchent were talking about the following months PPV instead of calling the actual fight.
I remember Lamply even saying somthing like "And as Floyd pecks his way to another victory". I remember that comment because i laughed my ass off and it made me happy that I didn't spend a dime on that fight.

Floyd is one of the biggest and most marketable names in boxing (still), if you can not even say that about him there is not point in going on talking to you.
It does not matter wheather people hate you or love you aslong as they are not silent about you, and there ain't nobody silent on Floyd Mayweather Jr.

But I think you are looking at this the wrong way because it wasn't Floyds popularity that made him that money it was his skill.
He fought two very popular fighters that needed a major challange at that point of their career and it made for great drama if you ask me.Last edited by pistol whip; 02-27-2009, 02:48 PM.

moral of the story is......floyd can come out of retirement and fight just about anybody, from cotto to shane to dlh to pacman, and do big numbers.
none of those guys can fight each other, and make it a bigger fight than it would be w/ him instead. pay the man.
