How do you rate Jones win over Toney?

The way ppl go on about it you would think Toney walked into the ring with a drip.

I just love re-watching that fight though. It is definately Roy's true coming out party. He was fkn spectacular.

i think i watched that fight 10 times that week...favorite exchange was when Toney absolutely TAGS roy and roy stops for a second...looks at Toney and proceeds to throw 10 unaswered...it was indeed his coming out party...they hyped that fight on USA's Tuesday Night Fight for weeks and it was a brilliant performance

Also, I think i read somewhere that JT lost 40 pounds in a very short amount of time. Something like 1 month and a half or something. That's some pretty dangerous ****. If only Toney had discipline, he could've been 10 ATG

That's not far from the truth, apparently!

It is a completely different situation. I give Manny credit for that win because coming from one of the lowest divisions in the sport and beating a guy who was a great Welter is one hell of an achievement. Having said that Oscar had not made and fought at that weight in several years and clearly should not have been there. The same cannot be said for Toney who was a current world champ at 168, fought there regularly and had not moved up from 160 too long ago.
