Noone who has ever fought at 168 would have beaten Roy that night. End of.
Have you heard of a man named Joe Calzotke?

Two top Ring rated P4P young guys, in or near their prime who were seen as two of the best if not the best at the time.

A great win and the kind of match up that should be encouraged.

Although I thin James' weight problems on the night are a little overstated, it is not Roy's problem. Great win for Roy.

Well considering Toney never got dominated like that until he fought prime HW Sam Peter when he himself was fat and past his prime I'd say that's a pretty good win.

Sorry, forgot to add that Joe and Sven Ottke were excluded. Thought it was a given. My bad.

i hear ya Danc....my only point was Toney had been doing that yoyo routine at SMW where he would rehydrate 15-20lbs overnight and it didnt bother him in his other fights leading up to it....he was in a condition in which he was comfortable....

the only reason claim that he looked sluggish, possible weightdrained, is because the vast disparity in speed with those two...i remember roy getting tagged only to counter with a 7-8punch flurry that Toney had no answers for

The way ppl go on about it you would think Toney walked into the ring with a drip.

I just love re-watching that fight though. It is definately Roy's true coming out party. He was fkn spectacular.

Also, I think i read somewhere that JT lost 40 pounds in a very short amount of time. Something like 1 month and a half or something. That's some pretty dangerous ****. If only Toney had discipline, he could've been 10 ATG

It is a great win, undoubtedly, but with Toney losing 47lb in only 6 weeks it does tend to take a little bit of the shine away.

At the end of the day (to borrow a Calzaghe-ism), the bottom line speaks the loudest, and as they say, a win is a win. Whoever "they" are.
