    Joe Calzaghes 21 Title defenses

    The opponents:

mark the ones in bold in what you think were credible opponents:

    Mikkel Kessler
Peter Manfredo Jr - LMFAO...Seriously how do u defend this
Sakio Bika - still not a worthy fight and he made calzaghe look bad
    Jeff Lacy
    Evans Ashira - lmfao...
Mario Veit - ??? what was the point of fighting him again?
Kabary Salem - still got knocked down by this journeyman
    Mger Mkrtchian bum
    Byron Mitchell - bum
    Tocker Pudwill - bum
    Miguel Angel Jimenez - bum
    Charles Brewer -bum
    Will McIntyre - bum
    Mario Veit - who what?
    Richie Woodhall - ?
    Omar Sheika - journeyman/bum
    David Starie - bum
    Rick Thornberry - bum
    Robin Reid - robbery
Juan Carlos Gimenez Ferreyra - bum
    Branko Sobot - bum
Chris Eubank - past his prime

So out of 21 title defenses and 10 years ....i see 2 as credible wins.

    What say you?

Even lacy and kessler althought being credible/good wins, both of those fighters havent done **** since then, and their resume is still not that great.

#1 The Manfredo fight was to gain some exposure in the US.

#2 Mario Veit had become the #1 Contender again. Joe publicly stated he would rather not fight him again.

#3 Robbery? No. Close fight? Yes. There is a diffference. Something tells me you haven't seen the fight.

This has been done to death, get over it.

Chris Eubank was weight drained for the fight. He was 6-2 in his previous bouts. He had to fights at 165 before Calzaghe fight. He was planning to fight for a title at 175 but took Calzaghe fight at short notice and had to entered a 2 week weight draining regime

although i agree with the weakness of calzaghe's defenses......

omar sheika wasn't a bum! he was pretty good just nothing special.

he gave us some pretty entertaining fights.

make more excuses for your boyfriend... i dont knw how calzaghe nuthuggers make so many excuses to defend him even when hes in the wrong

belts dont mean ****, calzaghe could have easily vacated the title and fought someone credible rather than fighting a guy again who he already beat in a mismatch like 3 years ago

calzaghe padded his record and was well protected

and no, I BELIEVE U HAVENT seen the fight, watch it for urself kid and tell me that u honestly think calzaghe won this fight, go on:

              Evans Ashira - lmfao...
Mario Veit - mandetory coming off a KO of Brewer in eliminator
Kabary Salem - still got knocked down by this journeyman
              Mger Mkrtchian Mandetory
              Byron Mitchell
Tocker Pudwill - last minute replacement for Thomas Tate

              Charles Brewer
              Will McIntyre - mandetory
              Mario Veit - was 30-0
              Richie Woodhall
              Omar Sheika
David Starie - british title holder, he was cleaning up the home scene, think how much flack hatton gets for not facing Witter.
              Rick Thornberry - bum
Robin Reid - huge Reid fan but clearly not a robbery
Juan Carlos Gimenez Ferreyra - Mandetory
              Branko Sobot - bum
Chris Eubank - past his prime but still very very good

I see 9, not great by any means but I put that down to a poor division which included two other champions who would never fight outside Germany and recieved gift after gift.

reid , brewer , lacy , mitchell and kessler were all good wins. that's about it though.

hopkins was a great win. jones was a good win also , just for the name recognition and the money involved.

You just lost the last shred of credibility you might have had. Look at my previous posts, I am a fan of Joe but most certainly not a nuthugger.

The fight with Reid was close. That is very different to a robbery. Whitaker vs Chavez was a robbery, Calzaghe vs Reid was not.
