I just think at 44.. hes stretching...
Pavlik was nothing more then a gym workout.. having watched the fight 7-8 times... I mean Pavlik did nothing to make the 43 yr old work... It was up to bernard to work whenever he felt like it... and he took full advantage of it....
Great win at such an age..
Williams is so not close to Kelly its not even funny...
You just cant compare them on any level except height... and Williams is still taller..Comment

Paul will definitely present Bernard some problems with his speed and work rate, but I see Hop winning this fight His counter punching ability, craftiness and intelligence will be too much. B-Hop is a rough dude. I'm a big fan of both by the way. I love what P-Will's doing for the sport, and he has a bright future. I just don't see him winning this fight.Comment

How much longer do you people think Hopkins can compete at an athletic level with elite fighters?
Elite VOLUME punchers... who MOVE...
At some point, we have to realize hes human... and we have to realize the kind of fighter kelly was in that fight..Comment

How would you really know though since williams has not faced a fighter since the first Quintana loss that has great lateral movement and is a great counter puncher?
Winky and Phillips stood right in front of him. Quintana rematch lasted like a minute. Ande Kolle, no.
I personally think Williams has improved BUT it has yet to be seen if he can deal with someone that has good lateral movement.
And like I said, Hopkins has great lateral movement, this was the #1 reason he easily beat pavlik. Williams would struggle big time with hopkins man, I'm telling you.Comment

its safe to say hopkins is the better boxer than williams, but williams simply outworks hopkins... hopkins is too oldComment

The next fight Williams fought after Quintana IHow would you really know though since williams has not faced a fighter since the first Quintana loss that has great lateral movement and is a great counter puncher?

Williams might struggle, but he takes a UD... Hopkins would get his good counter shots in for sure... he just couldnt keep up for 12 rounds... it would come down to numbers,,, im tellin YOU SON!
And Hopkins did well more on his foot movement IMO... kellys a flat footed fighter and bernard moved and gave him angles...
Lets also not forget how GREAT bernard looked against WINKY, at 170lbs...Comment

Williams will be more active and fast than Pavlik at 170, he will move better and he throws from more angles. You're right, no arguments. Still, Williams as an agressor is open all day for right hands down the middle, yes I saw his head movement and wasn't overly impressed. Rewatch the Winky fight, his accuracy was off and he was swinging for the fences because Paul was beginning to embarrass him. Hopkins is a negative fighter, and that is kryptonite for Paul. The guy is great for the sport and tries to make every fight a gunshow, and he will walk into right hand leads all day. He will be smart and patient, but not patient enough and if he opens up like he did against Winky he will hit the floor fast. Hopkins will be negative enough to force Paul into range and then the in and out movement offsets his rhythm. The main fact here is that Paul will be too small for a man who just fought 2lbs north of it. Not only will BHop destroy him, but only a few people here will be impressed. Admit if, if BHop wins do you think this does ANYTHING for his legacy, or does it bring up more BHop haters who are convinced that he has only "beaten up yet another welterweight?" I am a big Paul fan and would like him to maybe get his last big fight below 160, then grow into the 160 division and get his title shot, THEN maybe head into the 168 with a Kessler/Froch/Taylor fight and retire defending his belt(s) for however long he feels the need to. However he is not ready for this huge gap in skill and weight.I just think at 44.. hes stretching...
