He only became the man (B-Hop excepted) after beating Tarver, and if THAT fight had gone the other way nobody would even be talking about Chad Dawson. If Calzaghe had signed up to fight Chad after the B-Hop fight, it would have been as the 'easy' option, not an opportunity to shut up anybody.

As far as I'm aware a Pavlik fight was never really seriously considered by either camp. Which considering what B-Hop did to Pavlik is probably just as well; we know now Pavlik is a middleweight, not a lieght heavyweight.
It's a little too soon to revise history. Maybe you started watching boxing last month but Dawson's name was in the running before a Jones fight. hell, even Jones discussed fighting Dawson.

      • Calzaghe didn't feel anyone was ready until they were nearly 40.

Joe's win over Hopkins was dubious as well.

At least Chad had the nuts to fight Glenn.

          Joe said

          "My divorce is too painful"

There was NO EXCUSE for fighting RJJ's old SHOT to hell ass.

Chad was more than available..stop lying ****-jockey.

          Joe is a not a risk-taker..he doesn't have to be..because his fans are all b*tches..so HARD-UP for a hero..that they reward mediocrity.

he had a chance at Kelly after Lockett got smashed but he chose Roy for the money.....after Roy, Chad was available, but he chose retirement.....Max Kellerman even mentioned Chad to him after the Roy fight, at this time Chad was free to fight him, but he walked away from 2 UNDEFEATED proven stars......its a mental thing with Joe, if you ever lost before he feels cool with fighting you, but if you've NEVER experienced defeat he will ONLY fight you where he receives 99.9% of the crowd support.

The Jones fight DIDN'T EVEN MAKE ANY MONEY.

              Nor did the Hopkins fight.

Joe would have made much more fighting Chad in Wales..Dawson was more than willing to go.

again......................... and Manfredo beat who to deserve a fight with Calzaghe? What would it matter if Dawson fought all "nobodies/BUMS"? Didn't Joe do this most if not 90% of his career in his own back yard? Wasn't Joe the no name/no money on the table "NOBODY" like Dawson until he came to America?

If anyone deserved to fight it was Dawson and HOP getting a rematch following. If TV star Peter Manfredo deserved to fight Joe than Dawson does too. and IMO Hop should have a rematch no matter what anyone thinks about who won. It was controversial and there should be a rematch. Either way Joe left the great sport of boxing. The end.
