in one interview he says he and his family are finacially set........then he says the money for a Dawson fight wouldn't be enough ......lets quit the patriotic **** for a minute (I know thats hard for alot of you here) and really examine this Joe Calzaghe and his career decisions......some dudes say its cats here hatin' on his "0".....grow the **** up or start postin' on AOL or some other kindergarten ass site.......what pisses "HARDCORE" fans off is the assumption that this dude is one of the GREATEST ever.....its NOT true!! its NOT hate......its just the way it is!! he had a chance to shut the critics up by gettin' at Pavlik and Dawson but he chose Roy Jones and retirement.......Tarver was the FIRST man to REALLY beat Roy and all that got him was a role in another corny Rocky movie and a ass whoopin from B-Hop.......so even with 2 wins and KO over Roy, Tarver is STILL fighting for respect.......so a victory over the post Tarver Roy is almost next to doing NOTHING for your legacy......so MOST fans don't and won't give him credit for beating Roy......plus his performance in the B-Hop fight didn't warrant the HARDCORE fans to bow down.......B-Hop shut Pavlik out 12-0 and got more credit for his win over Pavlik than Joe got for beating a LEGEND like Roy........WAKE UP!! some of you dudes love your country, race and nationality more than OUR sport and it shows......I LOVE the sport more than my favorite fighter, race and country....thats just me!........I just wish some of you dudes held it down like that to. Calzaghe is a very good fighter that didn't take the risks or fights that the REAL GREATS take.......thats not hate.....thats Real Talk!

At the time the Jones fight was made Dawson wasn't even in the running for a Calzaghe fight; he had one decent win to his name - a highly dubious one over Johnson. He only became the man (B-Hop excepted) after beating Tarver, and if THAT fight had gone the other way nobody would even be talking about Chad Dawson. If Calzaghe had signed up to fight Chad after the B-Hop fight, it would have been as the 'easy' option, not an opportunity to shut up anybody.

As far as I'm aware a Pavlik fight was never really seriously considered by either camp. Which considering what B-Hop did to Pavlik is probably just as well; we know now Pavlik is a middleweight, not a light heavyweight.
